Complicated and Confused Mattress seeker

Years ago I came on here and bought a mattress from Dream Foam that is no longer on the trusted list and it was amazing. Recently I was in a serious accident and have neck, shoulder, back and hip pain. We moved and I contacted Dream Foam and got the closest thing to our old mattress. Then we stayed with family for 3 weeks and slept on a Linenspa 8 Inch Memory Foam and Innerspring Hybrid Medium-Firm Mattress they bought from Amazon and I was not having pain issues. After we came home one night on the new mattress and neck pain is back. (Pillow is the same). So it is the mattress. I suspect it is because it is too soft.
My husband thinks the obvious answer is to buy what we slept on. However, I liked the less pain aspect and slept fine on it, however, it just felt cheap and I am skeptical. I am leaning toward Latex vs memory foam but because my situation is complex I thought I’d see if the experts had some suggestions as this is a little overwhelming. Husband is a side sleeper. I used to be a side sleeper but occasionally wake up on my stomach. Neither of us is over 180 lbs.
I did spend a couple hours reading everything to try and figure it out myself but am still confused.

Hi geiseman.

Welcome to our Mattress Forum.

It sounds like you may be dealing with a little bit of analysis paralysis - it happens to the best of us! While we definitely do share out methods for shopping, durability guidelines, etc., the best and most important piece of data is the one you’re going to get through in-person testing.

While you may know the Linenspa 8 Inch Memory Foam and Innerspring Hybrid Medium-Firm Mattress is of a lesser durability than you’d prefer, you also know you’ve slept well, comfortably, and supported on that mattress. You could try to approximate that mattress or find something similar, it’s okay if you ultimately decide to buy something you know works for you.

Latex is going to offer better cooling qualities and “lifting” support than memory foam. I’d suggest looking at Sleep EZ and the mattresses at Nest Bedding.
