Compressed mattress shipping

Many manufactures ship mattresses rolled up and highly compressed. Does this do any significant damage to the internals of a latex or memory foam mattress?

Hi frank1,

Generally not if the compression hasn’t been over a longer period of time (such as stored compressed for months or years in a warehouse) and the type of foam is suitable for compression without damage. I think too that vacuum compression (compression by sucking out the air) may be more risky than compression through rollers. Most memory foam would be fine for the short term as would latex. Polyfoam would depend on the type, density, and firmness of the polyfoam. Low quality polyfoam could be damaged more easily.
