Hey Khaled,
Welcome back to the TMU Forum
! Good to see you and thanks for your question.
Congrats on your new DIY journey
! Good to hear that in the Four Season’s Signature mattress you’ve found a construction of interest and have identified a preference for a more “classic” feel that innersprings can have when combined with other construction elements. As you have “discovered” that you love this mattress’s feel following your hotel stay, what type mattress are you currently using?
From the Four Seasons website, there is a product cutaway of the Signature Mattress but no component specs, only mentions of Simmons’ proprietary foams and their layering. In addition to its removable comfort layer, there is a gel foam and memory foam layer, as well as an upper foam layer. HR foam could be part of that “classic” feel in a DIY, a question best asked of one of theTMU trusted members, it would not feel “springy” like latex.
Also do low ILD latex dont feel that spring and only in high ILD we feel that typical latex feel ?
The softness and firmness of foams is measured in terms of inILD/ Indentation Load Deflection. Lower numbers of ILD are softer feeling latex and higher numbers are firmer. In this instance, you may be referring to the nature of latex’s elasticity and pressure relieving qualities as opposed to how soft, plush or firm the latex feels as a comfort or support layer.
High Resiliency (HR) polyfoam is the highest grade of polyfoam and weighs 2.5 lbs per cubic foot or more. High Density (HD) polyfoam has a foam density of 1.5 lbs -1.8 lbs per cubic foot with being more desirable in terms of durability. Neither of these polyfoams will feel like or perform like latex.
Any advice ? Also I don’t seem to find many online HD foam suppliers with a wide range of ILD’s. Any advice here also?

You may consider consulting with one of these TMU trusted manufacturers/ retailers specializing in DIY components, they would be happy to point you in the right direction.
FYI: I have tried latex and memory foam DIY and discovered I don’t like neither (don’t like the zero resilience vs the very high resilience (springiness) of latex). I like how PU foam
resilience feels like .
Understood, Khaled. If PU foam is in keeping with your personal preferences, that’s great and important for understanding how to research further for your DIY build. When discussing your project needs with a manufacturer, you could explain your interest in the FS Signature and ask advice on components based on how that mattress “feels” to you without getting too hung up on what role polyfoams may play as you won’t be able to exactly match Simmon’s proprietary gel foam/ memory foam construction. Hope this helps and looking forward to hearing how your progress goes…
.
Thanks,
Sensei
