I’m looking for a cooling sheet and or blanket because I sleep really hot. I’ve seen all those cheap ones on amazon with “amazing new cooling technology” but who really believes those reviews anymore. The bad ones say it feels like I just bought a curtain. And still so many 5 star reviews. Still, I’m skeptical.
So, I was looking for one non fitted sheet to sleep on top of and a cooling blanket to cover me. I have a nest latex hybrid that I really like, but I get very warm, and it’s not a hot sleeping bed. I just get hot. What’s good? A thin wool blanket? Bamboo? Tencel? Hemp?
I don’t want to get a topper because my bed kind of has one built in. I was thinking also of sleeping on top of a wool blanket with a good cooling sheet on top of it. Or maybe a cooling sheet under me and on top of me with the wool blanket on top.
Any suggestions.
I don’t want an expensive fitted sheet sets because very few of them cover my 13 inch mattress and if they do they would be very expensive. So I would put the regular sheet over my fitted sheets that fit very well.
Any recommendations of brand and type would be very helpful.
Thanks
Yeah, I’m skeptical of Amazon reviews too because they’re frankly quite easy to fake. But also, what works for one person isn’t guaranteed to work for another, so even if I give a set of sheets 5 stars you may turn around and find you hate them.
Just feeling the “coolness” of a material has little to do with how cool you will sleep over the course of the night unless there is good ventilation and regulation of humidity levels. This is why you hear about so many people still ending up sleeping warm because the essential ventilation issue may not be well addressed.
There are many elements to the sleeping cool “equation” which includes the upper layers of the mattress, the ticking and quilting materials, the mattress protector, and any sheets and bedding on the mattress and all of these work together to regulate temperature and allow (or not) the natural processes of the body to keep itself cool.
Wool and bamboo tend to be popular and successful choices for many. I personally have bamboo bedding coupled with a wool comforter and find it very refreshing even in my hot climate!
We bought these percale sheets off of Amazon after doing some research. We are on a budget so these ended up being perfect for what we needed. They have been great so far and the quality is really good for the price. While they don’t have any fancy cooling technology, they have slept cool for us. My fiancé used to get night sweats all the time on our old sheets and has not had an episode since we got our new bed and have been using the percale cotton sheets. They are perfect for our 14 inch mattress and even stay on when we use the adjustable base to sit the head of the bed up. We also bought a wool comforter to try since there are a lot of good reviews on wool being good for thermoregulation. Hope this helps, and good luck in your search.
I endorse linen or percale cotton. We’ve been sleeping on linen since 2014 because it’s so comfortable during any season.
Prices and materials vary. A cheap linen is a cheap linen for a reason.
Portugal, Belgium, Italy and Lithuania linens are what we consider a good value.
I’ve been sleeping on bamboo sheets for about three years and LOVE them. They are a little higher maintenance (gentle cycle, low heat) and wrinkle if you don’t get them on the bed quickly. But they are so light weight, soft without being slick and help regulate body temperature because they are very breathable. Mine are Luxome, but there are others.
