Couple of basic questions.

I am a new member and I have read an awful lot over the last week or two. Several years ago I had done much the same for an earlier mattress search. Forgive me if these are repetitive of topics easily searched- it is difficult to keep the mass of information straight.
I plan to buy an all latex mattress. Would a relatively slim mattress cover, such as bamboo or tencel, allow for better contact with the comfort layer than a thicker cotton/wool combination?
Would it not be advisable to employ a three individual section mattress (e.g. layers of 3" each) as a flippable mattress? I suspect that placing a medium density on the bottom under a medium and a firm section could wear that lower section more quickly?
Is there a structural benefit to gluing a comfort layer together with a transition layer rather than keeping them separate?
Thank you.

Hi Dillon.

Welcome to our Mattress Forum.

I am glad you’ve found the resources here helpful! I hope I’m able to answer your questions adequately.

Yes, in general, a thinner cover is going to allow a more direct contact with the comfort layer. A very tight cover can still change the feel, though (creating a firmer experience), although this does tend to “relax” with time/use.

Some companies already do this! You can flip the all foam mattress and the layers are also interchangeable. Generally speaking, since the base layers are furthest from the body, they really don’t receive much wear and can be supportive and durable for much longer than the comfort layer. Is that what you are asking, or have I not fully understood this question?

Not particularly! In the majority of cases, you really don’t need an adhesive between mattress layers. If you have an appropriately fitting mattress cover, your foam layers (and even spring units) will stay put. Choosing to use an adhesive can actually make your mattress less breathable/flexible.
