Custom Comfort by Winn

Just purchased a Custom Comfort by Winn. I was told the specs were 2.5" quick memory quilting qualtex over 5.5" of qualtex foam and then 12.75 gauge coils. Foundation is all wood. The set has 15 year non-prorated warranty and the retailer will return the mattress to the factory for any adjustments in the future (small fee charged). All for around $2k. The set has great support and little motion transfer with 2 people.

I shopped at Macy’s, Sleepys and Original Mattress Factory. Simmons Black at Macy’s was around $4K and didn’t feel comfortable plus there was no sales help. Original Mattress - the quality did not seem to be there and did not like box spring feel after being on all wood foundation. Sleepys had good salespeople that were informative on their product and not pushy. Really liked the Kingsdown Myside but was reluctant to spend $4-5K on mattress. It wasn’t the money since my last mattress was $3200 but only lasted 5 years before it became a hammock (Sealy Rock Harbor).

Discussions with several friends that spent a lot on mattresses (over $3K) and found they didn’t last either. This led me to reduce my budget and figure I would buy a new mattress every 4-5 years.

Happy to find Winn and really believe this one will last the 10-15 years. Only time will tell.

Hi ADC,

Thank you for your review and feedback and congratulations on your new mattress :). As you know … there’s no doubt in my mind that local manufacturers (like Custom Comfort by Winn) is the way to go for much higher quality and much better value.

The Qualatex is actually a very high quality HR polyfoam made by Carpenter and is made to perform and feel similar to latex (and like latex is very different from memory foam). It is also much higher quality polyfoam than the “major brands” tend to use in most of their mattresses. That in combination with very strong and durable innerspring would make for a very nice and long lasting mattress.

There would be nothing at Macy’s or Sleepy’s or in any major brand for that matter that would compare in value with what you bought IMO. While OMF does have some all latex mattresses (which I wish they would put on a solid foundation instead of an innerspring) … they don’t have an innerspring mattress which uses either latex or the same quality of foam on top as what is in your mattress.

I think you made a great choice … and based on the quality of the materials it should certainly last a long time.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

After 30+ days on the mattress, it is very nice. King bed feels bigger since there is no hammock in the middle. Sleep through the night with no aches. The mattress does feel “firm” when you first get in it but then right to sleep. I would rather have firm feeling with good sleep than “pillow” feel and poor sleep.

Hi ADC,

Thanks for the update … I appreciate it
