We have just purchased a bed from Custom Sleep Design. I have not seen many reviews regarding this company. I wanted to post our experiences so that others may learn from our experience.
We are in the market for a new bed because after 4 years we can no longer sleep on the foam mattress be bought from Ikea. It was good for the first couple years but I can no longer put up with morning back pain
We started looking at air mattresses because our friends highly recommended them. After laying on them in the stores and reading reviews we started to consider alternatives.
I came across this site. I saw that you were recommending Custom Sleep Design. We decided to try them out. We live in CT about an hour drive from the store.
We met Bob, the owner, at his Westport store. This is currently a small operation but very professionally run. He was very knowledgable about the bedding. He worked with us to find the proper base and padding.
He first determined which base piece we needed. After that he unzipped the mattress to exchange the pieces in the next two layers in order to find just the right combination that fit our body shapes.
He was able to answer all of our questions. We even asked him about a local competitor. He was able to explain the difference between their mattresses and his without any bias. This seemed refreshing from a salesman.
He was able to quote us a price. I mentioned this site and he honored the 5% discount posted here.
He quoted us a 3 week delivery. We ordered the adjustable foundation which needs to be shipped to CT. This is the reason for the delivery lead time. I am not sure what is it if you ordered a stationary foundation.
We also liked the fact the mattress parts were made in CT as well. We like being able support local businesses when we can.
I will post more after we have been able to sleep on the bed.
The company is trying something new with mattresses which make sense to us. It is building them to your body dimensions.
Phoenix, thank you for this site.
