Daybed wire mesh pieces

So this isn’t a mattress question per se, but I couldn’t find a better forum to ask on. I have an old daybed frame where the mattress rests on top of a mesh made of thick wire links. Several of the links have broken, and I want to replace them instead of buying and installing a whole new wire mesh. I haven’t been able to find them for sale online, but that could be because I don’t know what they’re called so I just searched for “daybed parts”. Does anyone know what these things are called so I can do a proper search for them? Or a website that sells these kinds of parts? I can post pictures, if more info is needed.

Hi 151rb,

They are usually called a daybed link spring or linked spring. There is some good information about them here and you can replace them with a universal link spring like this which Stlbeds also sells here.

The item pictured at stlbeds looks like exactly the same style as the one I have. But I’m not looking to buy that whole thing; I just want a few of those little individual pieces that make up the wire grid, to replace the broken ones on mine.

Hi 151rby,

If you need to replace some individual springs then you may be able to find a similar spring at a hardware store that would be suitable. It may also be worth calling Glideaway to see if they would sell you any individual parts that you need.

Good idea. The pieces I need to replace aren’t springs, though. They’re the little metal pieces that make up the main center of the grid.

Hi 151rb,

I hope you find the part you need and let us now where you found it if you do.

Thanks. If all else fails then I will probably make new ones with a 3d scanner/printer. I imagine it’d still be cheaper and easier than getting a whole new link spring.
