I’m not sure whether to post this here or in the experts advice forum.
I have been lurking here for years reading and researching, but have never posted and just created an account.
We bought a CBH Wood/Balancer Das Original bed in 2020.

While it is a beautiful bed, it has never been comfortable for us. I think the problem is that we both have pain issues and need more pressure point relief.
I bought a 2 inch dunlop latex topper a few months after we bought the bed.
A couple of years ago I added a down topper over that.
We still struggle.
My husband has had both hips replaced and needs his knees replaced due to a genetic degeneration issue. He experiences pain in his hips at night. I bought him two foam support hip pillows which he sleeps on top of each night. He turns over multiple times a night to relieve pain.
I have many chronic pain issues, due to Spinal issues (especially in my neck and head and shoulder area), Fibromyalgia, Mixed Connective Tissue Disease, and a injuries from a car accident which required both my legs and right hip to basically be rebuilt so I have a lot of hardware.
We slept on a memory foam mattress for 3 nights recently at an inn which greatly relieved my pain, both during sleep and after. My husband felt it was too soft I guess. But then he complains about need pressure point relief for his hips. The main problem overall was it was too hot. But I loved the feel of it.
Since we sometimes experience relief at other inns/hotels I thought about buying one that they use. But who knows if you really get the same mattress or if it will do the trick.
My quandary is: Do I buy a new mattress? If I do which one?? I’m so overwhelmed and confused by the endless choices and materials.
Or I was thinking maybe I should by a 3 inch Talalay topper to go over the original 4 inch talalay mattress that came with the bed and the 2 inch dunlop topper that I already added, and that would make it soft enough for us. Sort of like building our own mattress as some people do. It would save us a lot of money over buying a whole new mattress. But then if it doesn’t work we are stuck again and in need of a new mattress.
The theory of the bed is that the talalay latex slat system along with the 4 inch talalay latex mattress provide the proper support and alignment for your body (I don’t know if I’m expressing that correctly), which I think would be null with that many inches of mattress - and probably already is with what we have. But we need to do something.
