DIY configuration review after Mint Mattress has expired

Hi, i’ve been browsing the forums and looking for any thoughts on this build.

Male 5’10" 175lbs 100% side sleeper
Female 5’3" 125lbs combo back/stomach/side
Upgrading from a 8+ year old Tuft & Needle Mint. Main issues are back/shoulder pain and sleeping too hot. We’ve never had latex but open to it, and are against memory foam. Goldilocks is something a little plush for pressure relief but also supportive.

Bottom to top in a king:
1" Lux-HQ foam
8" TPS quad pocket spring 15.5g split king
2" medium dunlop latex
2" soft talalay blended latex
13" bamboo/wool quilted cover

Couple questions
-does this combination make sense for us?
-I like the idea of the quilted wool cover, but will it make the build too firm?
-would 3" soft talalay be better or is 2" ok?
-does it matter if the talalay is blended or 100% natural

Thanks!

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiries! This combination should work well for both of you. The 2" soft Talalay over 2" medium Dunlop provides a contour layer as well as a transition layer on top of the 15.5 gauge pocketed coils. This setup should offer contour, pressure relief, and adequate support for your respective weights.

The primary difference between this setup and a 3" soft Talalay is that the 3" Talalay layer will offer a slightly more plush feel on the sleep surface. If you prefer a plush top, the 3" Talalay might be the way to go. However, both setups should work fine for most side and/or back sleepers weighing less than approximately 220 lbs.

There is very little to no difference in overall feel between Natural and Blended Talalay. Both are produced using the Talalay process, with the ratio of ingredients being the only difference.

Should you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Best regards,

SleepEZ
