DIY Latex Mattress Build Check

Hi, I was planning on making a DIY latex mattress using Arizona toppers. We are very lightweight side sleepers. Does this make sense for a 5’7" 125 lbs side sleeper (infrequently back) and a 5"0’ 90lbs side sleeper?

Option 1:
3 inch all natural talalay supersoft (#15-19 ILD)
3 inch medium all natural dunlop #28-33 ILD
3 inch firm all natural dunlop #34-38 ILD
-Some unquilted cover

Option 2:
3 inch all natural talalay supersoft (#15-19 ILD)
6 inch medium all natural dunlop #28-33 ILD
-Some unquilted cover

Option 3:
3 inch Dunlop 20 ILD
3 inch Dunlop 30 ILD
3 inch Dunlop 40 ILD
-Some unquilted cover

Is the supersoft too soft for a comfort layer? I was thinking we are very light people so we need something quite soft. Are there any potential changes/pitfalls we should be aware of?

Hi WealthyCow.

Welcome to our Mattress Forum.

All three of these configurations look very solid. I myself am partial to configurations with a transition layer like the first and third you shared. Many light weight sleepers rave on the forum about a soft/medium/firm setup being right for them. I myself have limited experience with super soft layers; Ken at Arizona Premium will be an excellent resource for you here. He’ll be best able to guide you towards soft vs extra soft based on your needs.

I also hope other experienced DIYers chime in with their tips!
