I’ve got a child of 1 year old and bought a simple mattress with coconut filler at first. But now I think over if I were right… Do I need to choose a softer mattress, with a supportive orthopedic effect? Maybe polyurethane foam mattress… Here. I have found good arguments for this material but still cannot decide. There are so many aspects to consider. I will be grateful if you can help me!
Hi Daria91,
Coconut coir, is quite firm on its own. I would add either a 2" topper of medium firm polyurethane foam, or if you’re pre-occupied by off-gassing then add 2" organic dunlop latex in a 20 ILD.
This will help reduce pressure points, and the coconut coir will offer the necessary support.
Did I answer all your question?
Please let me know if you need any further information.
All the Best!
