I found a Certi-PUR memory foam topper from Saatva that I thought of trying because my Dunlop 19 ILD topper is too firm, and I like a “cradling” feel vs a “sleep ON the mattress” feel.
It’s a reasonable price with a 180 day trial and free returns, full refund.
However, this gave me pause. When I asked them what the density of the memory foam was - it’s 3", this was their reply:
3" Graphite Memory Foam Topper- Density (lbs per cubic ft): 1.8 - 3 lbs, Certi-PUR Certified.
Isn’t that too low? Shouldn’t it be at least 4 to last? I DO want something soft as I need pressure point relief and I am small. But I am concerned about this not lasting.
Thoughts?

Sounds like HD foam to me, but what is confusing is the range. Ask them what the ILD is, I would be curious to what they say. If it is 36, then it is HD foam. If it is 16, then it is crappy density ve memory foam. VE Memory foam should be 4-5lb density if you are looking for a more durable viscoelastic, body swallowing, quick sand hugging feel.
Thank you. I will find out.
I don’t want quicksand feeling though, more “cradling”. Should I go back to looking at Talalay vs MF?
If a MF is Certi-PUR will it still off-gas?

Yes it can still off-gass, but, it is hard to know what is going on, until you have all the answers. We had a tempurpedic 3" MF topper prior to getting our new mattress over a year ago. My wife hated that thing. You lie in it and it sucked you in and left you motionless. LOL I guess it was doing its job, but she could not get out of bed, she felt like she was stuck. It didnt bother me, but she would complain all the time.
You could do something like a titanflex, which is a latex alternative memory foam. An open cell MF not as bouncy as latex, but not as sinking as MF, somewhere in between. Or something like this, which is a bit of both Activedough topper, I just took this one off our current mattress and switched to a 3" wool topper. We like the wool better, just pricey.
