I’m a new college graduate, moving into my own apartment for the first time and trying to furnish it fairly inexpensively. I’ve been looking at mattresses on Amazon because they seem to offer good value compared to what’s available locally. I’ve read several good reviews on here about a company called Dreamfoam Mattresses, which I believe is a subsidiary of Brooklyn Bedding. I’m frankly more concerned about buying from a reputable company than I am about comfort - I can sleep on anything remotely comfortable, but don’t want to buy a mattress that will collapse after a year.
So on to my question: On amazon.com, there is a company called Dreamfoam Mattress that sells Ultimate Dreams mattresses:
As you can see, the names are very similar, so I’m wondering if they are the same company or if one is a copycat of the other. They sell different products. It just seems weird that their names are so similar. Specifically, I’m interested in this mattress, which has great reviews and seems like a great deal for a bit over $200:
As you probably know from your reading here … both Brooklyn Bedding and Dreamfoam are members here which means I think highly of both of them and I believe they compete well with the best in the industry in terms of their quality, value, and service. They are actually sister companies (see post #3 here).
Dreamfoam only sells through Amazon (although they do have their own site here) and some of their mattresses are fulfilled by Dreamfoam and some of them are fulfilled by Amazon. The mattresses that are fulfilled by Amazon have the Amazon return policy but don’t have the pillow bonus that Dreamfoam offers to the members of the forum. All of the mattresses that you linked are all Dreamfoam Mattress and I’m not sure why they have two separate listings but if you click on the ones that are listed under the Dreamfoam Mattress listing you will see that they have Dreamfoam Bedding under the name of the mattress.
This is certainly a very good value mattress but the foam density and durability is lower than some of their other mattresses in higher budget ranges so this is part of the “tradeoff” for a lower budget range.
All of the mattresses you mentioned are made by Dreamfoam Bedding and hopefully this has helped clarify things a bit.
