Dual firmness floor models from big-name stores

My partner and are moving and due for a new mattress. We went looking at some big-name stores, specifically The Brick, just to get a better sense of our preferences as we started our research.

At the Brick, we tried a dual firmness mattress where we both liked our respective sides, only to later learn that it was a floor model and the Brick doesn’t stock dual firmness mattresses.

Having now tried a dual firmness mattress, anything else just doesn’t make sense since we like different firmnesses.

However, we have a Queen-size bed (with euro slats) that we love and want to keep. By my research so far, there are no Queen-size dual firmness mattresses available in Canada.

Anyone have experience acquiring a floor model with dual firmness from big-name stores?

Hi CrosscountryCanada.

I see @MFC is tagged here so hopefully they’ll be able to chime in.

How frustrating that Brick would test a floor model they can’t and don’t sell. What the actual heck!! Dual firmness queens aren’t very common, so I can’t make any recommendations but I did want to boost your question back up in the forum.

Hi CrosscountryCanada,

We can only make a split queen with HD and HR foam, please let me know if this would interest you,

Hi MFC,

Thanks for replying.

I think such a split queen with HD and HR foam might be our best bet indeed.

I’m a little worried about foam being too warm. Would it make sense to add a latex layer on top of the split foam layers?

Lastly, my partner isn’t sold on the idea without trying the mattress first, which is what brought me to the idea of buying a floor model. Any recommendations on that end? I understand you don’t have a showroom.

Thanks again
