Hello,
I’m new here and so grateful for this site! I just purchased a 3inch Tally latex topper from SleepEZ because of the information and recommendations here. My current 8 year old mattress is way too firm but there’s still life left in it. Hopeful that the topper will help.
Looking for advice on adjustable bases, particularly the Ergomotion Rio Series. I’ve never had an adjustable bed so I want to make sure that it will be a good investment and that I get the right one. There’s a local independent mattress store where I’m considering buying it. They sell the Ergomotion brand and I want to know a few things:
Is this Ergomotion a good quality brand for an adjustable base?
When it comes to the Rio 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0-- are they each just as sturdy regardless of the model? Would one last longer than the other (taking into consideration adding the extra features)?
I know the 2.0 is basic with only the articulating head/foot, zero g and instant flat buttons on the remote. I wish it had at least one memory preset but that’s the 3.0 (also w/ light underneath). Then the 4.0 adds massage with a couple more memory presets. Which one would be the best buy for the money?
Would a 10inch latex (and ??) mattress with a my new 3inch topper work on any of these bases? The mattress is heavy and a doozy to even rotate on the current box spring so just want to make sure I wouldn’t need to get a new mattress. The store where I purchased the mattress says yes but just want to get some objective advice.
Welcome to the community. The ergomotion adjustable bases are a very good quality brand. There are subtle differences between te 2-4. The Rio 2.0 provides the essentials: both head and foot articulation, a Zero-G preset, and a one-touch flat position via a wireless remote.
The Rio 3.0 builds on that by adding more customization with programmable presets and enhances convenience and ambiance with under-bed lighting.
The Rio 4.0 further improves by introducing a massage function with three intensity levels, USB-A and USB-C ports for device charging, while retaining the programmable presets and under-bed lighting features.
Ergomotion does a great job on their units and do private label them with no reduction in features for independents, like yawnder.com where I purchased one for my elderly mother in law. I got her a Yawnder 4 (RIO 4) and placed her DLX Premier Hybrid on it with no issues wit the base or mattress, for over 2 years now, picture perfect.
Maverick, I appreciate your response. I wasn’t sure if the brand was a quality brand and if my current mattress and new topper would be okay on the base. Since both are an affirmative yes, I contacted my local mattress store and they’re able to get me a good deal on the Rio 4.0. I’ll have to wait for them to get it ordered though. It works out better for me to purchase here in Texas, because with a doctor’s note, I don’t have to pay tax. Thanks again for your help!
FYI, there would be no tax from yawnder and free shipping, plus that extra TMU discount.
As long as you feel the deal is good, and you are happy, that is what matters. You would have to wait either way for order and delivery as everyone drop ships the item.
Hmmm, I’ll check to see which cost turns out to be better. Didn’t realize Yawnder wouldn’t charge tax. It showed up in the cart when I was looking at them yesterday.
Usually tax is assessed after you place your zip code into the order. If you were having it delivered in California, when ordering from a retailer in California, there would certainly be tax.
I’m not very familiar with Sven & Sons, but I do know they offer several models that include many of the same high-end features found in the nicer Ergomotion models. I’m not certain whether they use solid decks or metal grid frames.
A number of people have mentioned that they’ve purchased S&S bases, but I don’t have detailed knowledge about their motors or internal mechanics. As with most products, quality can vary across different models and price points. Independent reviews might provide more specific insight than I can offer.
Overall, they seem to have a strong offering, at least on paper. I know when they run their promotions, their price points are very attractive.
I recently purchased 2 twinXL adjustable frames from Sven & Sons. I’ve only been sleeping on mine for about 2 weeks, so I can’t speak to longevity at this point.
I can say that delivery and setup were great. We paid extra for white glove service, and it was worth it. They shipped the frames (quickly!) to a local contracted company that held them until we had our mattresses delivered, then brought them over and set them up. The guy who did our delivery and setup was friendly and helpful. My husband uses the adjustability of the bed more often than I do, but the “zero gravity” position feels great, and I find it very comfortable to sit up if I decide to bring my laptop into the bedroom and want to get something done. I hadn’t intended to try the massage feature yet, but my cat stepped on the remote and turned it on. It was a pleasant surprise.
Our beds are sturdy and strong - the boxes were heavy! I felt bad for the guy doing the setup, as he had to wrestle them up 2 flights of stairs. I had told the company that, but they apparently didn’t warn him. Not a happy surprise. Our heavy latex mattresses are supported well, from what I can tell. Even with the weight, the legs have soft caps on them, so they don’t scratch my hardwood floors, yet they still move easily when necessary. No wobbles - everything feels stable when we get into bed.
We did get one of the models with all the bells and whistles, as my husband wanted a particular feature that only came on the two most expensive options. He has sleep apnea and wanted to not only elevate his head, but also be able to adjust the head tilt. He’s particularly pleased with that capability.
So far, we’ve been very happy with the adjustable frames from S&S. Hopefully we’ll still feel that way several years down the line!
Thank you both for your responses! @hmmwrites do you know whether it is a solid deck or metal grid frame under the mattress? Maverick mentioned this and it is one of the things I was wondering. When I went to Amazon to look at their reviews, some of the pictures seem like they are metal grid frames but not certain.
I know that the Yawnder series (2,3,4,5, and 6) at Yawnder.com, which is the ergomotion repackaged for Yawnder, one of our newest Trusted Members, only has them made with solid decks. You can visit here for their new Trusted Member discount code off their sale price.
