I searched the forum and couldn’t find a situation analogous to my own - if you’ve already responded to a similar question please direct me to your response!
My wife fell in love with an Essentia Classic 8 and we recently purchased it but haven’t yet picked it up. I read your mattress forum and learned the 5.5" gap between our 1" wood slats is likely too much for the Classic 8.
I found another post on your site that suggested a bed rug, so I purchased the Coir (Coconut husk infused with latex) from Savvy Rest.
I’m now wondering if the Coir bed rug will offer enough support given that we have a wide gap (5.5") between our 1" slats. I put the Bed Rug beneath our current mattress, a Sonno Prima mattress from Design Within Reach that I got at a floor sample sale, and I noticed the bed rug sags a very small amount between the slats. Incidentally, I’ve used the Sonno Prima for a decade without a bed rug or any additional support other than the current 1" slats with a 5.5" gap and I’ve always slept fine.
In short, will the Coir bed rug be enough support beneath an Essentia Classic 8 and a 5/5" gap with 1" slats? Or, should I have purchased a bed rug that’s more substantial?

The FAQ page on the Essentia site specifies the following for a foundation …
Your foundation has slats that are 5.5" apart which I don’t think it would be suitable even with a bed rug and you would risk voiding the warranty.
I would buy a foundation that meets their criteria.
I just ordered an essentia grateful bed online and a pranasleep lotus American foundation locally ($300 on sale for full). I haven’t received it yet, but according to pranasleep/city mattress, the foundation has 8 consecutively placed spruce slats (no gaps) which does meet essentia’s guidelines.
Update: the lotus american foundation has a few slats spaced about a foot apart and covered with cheap particleboard and a thin sheet of cheap white synthetic foam. I know this because my foundation arrived with holes in it and I am pretty upset over being mislead by the (albeit very nice) salesperson and the lotus support, who gave me the impression that the frame was solid wood and had 10" wide slats (respectively). I’m a small 120lb person and I’m pretty sure it would not even be able to take my weight if I sat on it. The slats are also only on the top, so there is no structural support to the underside of the frame. City Mattress wants me to go back and look at their other, more expensive, latex mattress foundations, but they don’t know the specs on how many supports there are and how they are spaced. I think this does not bode well for me…

City Mattress did an exemplary job of customer service and exchanged the offending foundation without any hassle. The replacement item was also less expensive and they double checked the specs to make sure it was what I needed.
