European Sleep Works experience

I have been using this site to do a lot of research into what makes a quality mattress and what I might need or want in a mattress. After realizing I didn’t know enough to do a DIY mattress I settled on driving 3 hours to European Sleep Works which is a recommended vendor on this site. My wife and I decided on doing a split king and after trying out most of their mattresses we ended up buying a Nordic II and a Heritage twin XL (not listed online). The Heritage mattress has 4 layers of talalay and micro coils compressed in a tufted comfort layer so it’s not easily replaceable but it was the most comfortable and pain relieving for me. I am 6’ and 260 lbs with broad shoulders muscular build. My current bed creates shoulder pain and after trying out all the mattresses there the heritage with 1.7 base springs provided the perfect level of support and comfort that allowed my shoulders to get the relief I desired. My wife settled on the Nordic II also with 1.7 base springs and soft talalay. Both mattresses have a .5 inch difference in height so we are going to find something to make them the same height once rested on the adjustable bases we got. I thought I wanted a soft bed as I love a nice plush comfort layer but the support just didn’t feel right with any of the other mattresses except the heritage mattress for me. It’ll be 5 weeks till we get the new mattresses but using the discount from this site we got our 2 free pillows and will be using those tonight.

Hi there Valleyrider,

Welcome to the Mattress UnderGround community and thank you for sharing your experience with European Sleep Works, they take their mattress systems and dedication to sleepers very seriously and are intent on providing an experience for those wanting and needing a great night’s sleep.

It sounds like you and your wife have made some excellent choices for your new sleep setup! At TMU we are so excited for you both, and we wish you the best of luck as you await the arrival of your new mattresses. We hope that once they arrive, you find the comfort and relief you’re looking for, especially for your shoulders!

In the meantime, enjoy those custom-designed pillows! They’re specifically crafted to complement your mattress system, so you’ll be all set to experience the full benefit once everything is in place.

Interestingly, I’ll be visiting ESW this upcoming weekend for a coast-to-coast trip myself – and I’m looking forward to getting fit with one of those amazing pillows as well!

Since the heights are only .5 difference, you may be able to place something under the legs of the adjustable base to raise it that half inch, much like a carpet protector under the legs of a chair or if you are on a hardwood floor, something akin to a rubber- no slip disc, to fit under each leg.

Wishing you all the best for restful nights ahead – and hope your new setup brings you both a lot of comfort and peace. Use it in good health.

Well when you go see if you can find out why they don’t list the heritage mattress on their website. My theory is that it’s not listed because it’s not a serviceable mattress that can easily have the components switched out like all the other mattresses so it goes a little bit against their whole concept. The only option with this mattress is medium or firm base coils.

Also they mentioned the heritage was 4 layers of pre-compressed talalay and microcoils that is hand tufted. I’m not sure if that is the only layers that make up the comfort layer but it would be nice to know definitely what’s in it like you can with all the other mattresses.

No distinct reason for not listing the Heritage other than it is a proprietary build and they dont want anyone copying it. Which is understandable, it was comfortable and amazing to lie on. It was my favorite of all their mattresses and the Nordic II was awesome too.

Regarding the half inch difference, wait until you gave set the mattresses up in their location. Heavy duty felt on the legs to raise it should do the trick. Think if it like using a glass coaster under the legs.

Best of luck, use it in good health, that bed is amazing.

That makes sense. I already went back and swapped out my pillow for a different one and it was a super simple process. One thing I didn’t mention is they were getting rid of 2 floor model adjustable bases from brands they are not carrying anymore we got a Rize Clarity 2 and a Reverie R650 for free from them. When they mentioned we could have them free I was honestly shocked.

Did you happen to pick up a pillow from them while you were there?

Wow, that is amazing! They are just great people there. Yes, Steve fit me for a pillow and wedge half king topper. I was so impressed (and comfortable), I ordered a pillow and the wedge. I probably would have ordered that Heritage (firm side) mattress too. I loved the way it felt. The tufting was like individual supports for my back and side sleeping. My wife would have had a fit. She was already trying to figure out why I ordered another pillow and topper. We already have 9 pillows on our bed and two toppers. :exploding_head:

I confused Steve a little as my comfort characteristics are a bit unorthodox. I like a higher pillow loft as I prefer sleeping on a slight incline to help with my breathing and deviated septum. He took it all in and crafted a solution that met all my comfort preferences. Hopefully, when the items arrive, I can get to try them out and see how well they perform at home. I have no doubt that I will be very comfortable.

I dont think you will have any issues with them, as they are just great.

Hi i tried it the heritage luxe 1.7 today at the store and loved it. I have shoulder pain every now and then as I’m a swimmer and triathlete. How do you like it now if you’re still on here? I know it is hand sewn.

My hubby likes the nordic 2 but it is 2 mushy for me and we don’t want a split king due to night activities.

Question on the heritage: Do the buttons hurt your back?

The Heritage luxe is still the absolute best mattress I’ve slept on and I’m so thankful I found this site which led me to that store and mattress. My wife feels the exact same about the mattress she got. Sure there is a difference in feel between the 2 mattresses but when you have them pushed together as a split king it hasn’t effected sex at all if that’s the nighttime activities you’re worried about, it’s actually made it a bit more fun having 2 different types of surfaces with one being more springy than the other.

The tufting on the bed there is no button to feel, it’s more of lower pocket that feels like it almost cradles you a little. You can feel the pocket tuft but it is definitely more of a supportive and comfortable feel and not at all a button or lump or anything other than mattress.

Valleyrider, thank you for sharing your experience! We’re so glad to hear that The Heritage Luxe by @EuropeanSleep has been such a great fit for both you and your wife. It’s always rewarding to know the site helped guide you to the right choice. Appreciate the detailed feedback, especially on the split king setup and tufting feel!

Thanks so much. Yes, that is the activity I’m thinking of. Everything i read from couples said not to get a split king as it would ruin cuddling and activities. So we are thinking of just getting a queen. Thanks for your advice. I think we shall go back later this week to European sleep works as we are afraid of sleep number and that the bed will break. Sleep number and nature pedic were the only beds we liked jointly but i just couldn’t figure out how to make nature pedic work.
