European Sleep Works Heritage Luxe 1.7 v. Naturepedic Halycon

So husband and I have finally narrowed it down to European Sleep Works Heritage Luxe (berkeley - local mattress maker) and Naturepedic Halycon (or maybe EOS classic but with two layers of coils latex free).

I love the heritage luxe. It is awesome and a real quality mattress. We can split the firmness as my husband will need a softer mattress. I love that they are local, have a great return policy, great customer service ongoing, and use natural european materials. What a great company and what a great bed. Everything there is returnable for a $149 restocking fee. The heritage is hand-sewn locally and made to order.

We also really like Naturepedic. My husband and I both like the Halycon Arcadia. (I think I want to try the elysium as well). We can split the firmness and the internal layers, and we can swap out the materials over time. We love our local store and know that naturepedic has a great reputation. The halycon is not returnable although I have heard it is returnable for 50% store credit. It is handcrafted by the amish and made to order.

We are getting an adjustable base - probably the malouf luxury since both stores sell the malouf and we are lazy. We are so tired from mattress shopping - I can’t imagine also base shopping.

Anyway, we are trying to decide. The naturepedic halycon is more money than the european sleep works heritage but both are within our budget.

This is a tough decision. Both are customizable and one can buy layers later. I think my husband prefers the naturepedic halycon while I think I might prefer the European Sleep Works heritage luxe, but we plan to try out both again.

How is Naturepedic’s customer service? If something goes wrong, how does Naturepedic respond? I know that with European sleep works, they want you to be happy, so if your mattress starts sagging unexpectedly and significantly after 1 year, they will take care of it. What would Naturepedic’s response be?

Any insight into naturepedic customer service would be helpful. Also, maybe there isn’t something I am thinking of in these bed choices and something else I Might wish to consider regarding this decision between these two beds? There aren’t too many reviews of the halcyon.

Thanks so much! This forum has helped me a ton.

I know it sounds crazy……but could you get Naturepedic twin xl and ESW twin xl. Then you both get what you want! Hope they are the same height!!!

Hi… so funny. We actually do not want a split king due to the desire to maintain cuddling and other marital activities. Actually if my husband got exactly what he wanted he would get the super soft ESW Nordic 2. That is his favorite bed.

The naturepedic is the only one we have found where we could have one mattress thus far.

I was thinking you could put the 2 twin xls together to form a king size bed.

Turn of events. Looks like we are just going to buy one at the natural mattress store in San rafael. We just love their all latex mattresses with a eurotop. Looks like it is going to be a legg and platt base.

Glad to hear you found something that will work for both of you! I love our Heritage Series mattresses, but I’m not super crazy about them on an adjustable base. (Sorry if we confused you.) Happy sleeping, and please let us know if you ever need anything.

It’s so hard to find something for a couple with really different sleep needs. Good on you finding a solution that fits you both!

Hi! Good to hear from you. Well now my husband changed his mind and decided he likes the heritage now as we went again today.

But Q said if we got that one to be careful about putting up the head all the way in sitting position more than a few times a week with the adjustable base. Is it really not great with an adjustable base?

Thanks.

Thanks so much.
