I found this site a little late. I rushed into a purchase at my local mattress depot and the Sweda 8 latex I got did not feel the same as the one in the store. The one I got felt a good bit softer than the store model, a bit saggy, and once I sagged it felt hard. Like sleeping on a sheet of sagging plywood. Everything from my hips to my neck ached for hours in the morning. It was the worst mattress I ever slept on. The manager tried to tell me I need to break it in but I think it was poorly manufactured as its overall softer than a broken in floor model. Im perturbed at the experience. At least I can exchange it for another mattress but he gave me 40% of sticker price on the Sweda and no discount is offered on the exchange so its not like for like. My options are fairly limited as to what to exchange for. I had a helpful employee today who was different from the original sales guy show me quite a number of mattresses that I hadn’t seen the first time. They were Sealy, Serta, Comfort Care, Sterns & Foster, Diamond, Beautyrest, and Tempurpedic. Kindof disappointed with the selection but its what I have to work with.
About me 5’6” 195# mainly sleep on my side and occasionally on my back. Me and my husband both sleep on twins in a king platform frame. My current setup is a $250 Ikea pocket spring with Ikea memory foam topper. I sleep ok on it but have a few aches when I wake up. Looking for something supportive and conforming with a little softness that doesn’t push on my shoulder too much. My top two choices at the mattress store are a Serta Perfect Sleeper Cobalt Calm Medium Plush Top and Tempurpedic Adapt Medium. The Serta feels pretty good but slightly too firm. It was also a month old model so may have some softening up to do. The Tempurpedic felt good; it was supportive, conforming and not too hard. I’m leaning more towards the Serta because I tried a queen Tempurpedic adapt in another store and it was softer where you layed and felt almost like a hump in the middle. If that is how Tempurpedics go I don’t think it would work for me.
I have 1K credit at this store. I see that the s brands are not recommended here but did see some people replying that they were happy with their Serta Perfect Sleepers. Can the Serta Perfect Sleeper work for someone like me or is it likely not to last well? Do Tempurpedics get softer in the used areas? Thoughts or recommendations?
