Factory 2nd or "Defect" Latex Foam Source?

Years ago I found some “factory 2nd” also known as “defect” or “blemished” 100% dunlop latex foam that I used to make an amazing dog bed. It was for a large dog and it was a twin size “mattress topper” that really just seemed like it was a standard medium ILD block of 3" thick latex. It did have a lot of visual issues (mainly brown colour spots and also some areas that were thinner or malformed) but was functionally fine and brand new. Since I was already cutting it a bit and also doubling it up to reduce the size the “defects” didn’t matter at all - especially since it was for a dog. Sewing up my own custom washable cover was quick and easy and the dog loved it.

Recently looked again for “defect” or factory 2nd latex foam in any size or type and I have been unable to find anything. Wondering if I just got lucky that first time (I paid 60$ I believe). Does anyone know of a source for this type of thing? Or some distributors I might be able to contact? I want to make a few more dog beds (different dogs) but paying full retail for a perfect mattress toppers just does not make sense. It does not necessarily have to be in a twin size but larger sized blocks would be preferred - definitely not something pillow sized.

Great use of defective latex layers and foam reusing instead of sending it to be incinerated or to a landfill.
With the latex price increases, the ““defect” or factory 2nd latex foams” that are still unused have many applications so there may be some competition to acquire it and more difficult to find.
Let’s hope that other subscribers that read your post and know of such distribution outlets or eCommerce suppliers can give a shout-out.
