Firming a memory foam mattress

A year ago we bought a Douglasbed thinking it was good enough as she tried it. However, she noticed how it wasn’t firm enough for her – it’s been fine for me still after a year.

I am a side sleeper (145lb, 5’8"), she (125lb, 5’6") is a side sleeper too mainly but tends to shift every so often to back. Is there anything we can do to firm it up, like with a latex topper without it buying a brand new mattress?

Specs of current mattress…
2" Luxury ecoLight® Cooling Gel Foam
2" Premium Elastex® Foam
6" Motion Isolation Support Foam

While adding a firmer latex topper can help provide a firmer surface feel it can’t really address a lack of sufficient support in the mattress itself. So it depends on the amount of firmness you’re trying to gain and whether a lack of support is actually the issue. If you’re experiencing lower back pain that would likely be an indication of a lack of sufficient support, but if it’s just a comfort preference desiring a firmer feel the addition of a firmer topper could be worth a try. Hope that helps.
