First time researching a mattress

Two weeks ago my husband and I finally decided we were at the end of our rope with our current mattress. It was sagging in the middle and once we identified that our mattress was the cause of the really poor sleep we’d been having (especially after coming back from vacation sleeping on brand new mattresses) we couldn’t stop thinking about it.

My first thought was to figure out how to buy the same kind of mattress that I had slept on a few months prior to at the Aria in Vegas. I start looking around online and find that I can actually buy the mattress. Interesting. I start doing a bit more research because I realize I really know absolutely nothing about mattresses and it is unlike me to make a purchase without knowing at least something!

That is when I came across themattressunderground. What a jackpot - I am actually in awe of how much information is supplied here, I didn’t even get through all of it before we went to purchase our mattress - we couldn’t wait another week to finally go and replace our current one.

I decided on going to The Mattress & Sleep Company in Calgary - I liked the recommendation provided and thought it would be a great place to start. When we went into the store the woman helping us asked what brought us in and when I mentioned a mattress forum she smiled - “oh, the mattress underground?” Clearly this isn’t the first time this website has been the reason to bring people in. As for TMSC - I was SO impressed. I loved the selection of natural and organic mattresses that they carried, and when I gave her our budget she was able to successfully work something out within our budget (including the boxspring) that suited our sleep positions and my desire for natural/organic. She was extremely helpful, telling us all about the mattresses they carry, showing us the mattress cut-outs showing the layers of the mattress, telling us what the suspension slats do, moved mattresses around, looked up our bed frame online to figure out if it would work with the slats, etc, etc. She wasn’t pushy, she didn’t hover and gave us space to figure out what we wanted to settle with.

We ended up going with the Berkeley Ergonomics Malmo and the Berkeley suspension boxspring for the mattress. And then because we were so impressed with the amazing quality of everything they carried in the store we also ended up leaving with two down pillows, a down duvet, a wool mattress protector and organic cotton sheets. Our mattress was delivered yesterday and once we set it all up and crawled in, it was like being on a cloud. I am also 100% certain in the decisions we made about the mattress and feel great about the excellent quality of the products we have purchased. I had the best sleep in weeks and I can’t give enough thanks to TMU for showing me the light!!! I will gladly continue to give TMAS my business and recommend it to others, and I will ALWAYS point anyone shopping for a mattress in the direction of TMU to do a little bit of research first. :woohoo:

Hi bamboo2,

As you probably know from your reading here TMASC is one of the members of this site which means that I think very highly of them and I believe they compete well with the best in the industry in terms of their quality, value, service, and transparency. You are one of many forum members that have had a great experience with them.

Most importantly of all … congratulations on your new mattress
