At long last I got a new queen mattress from Flexus Comfort. $1650 and 2 free latex pillows seemed like a pretty decent deal especially since I was able to go and actually feel the beds for myself. That was a huge factor.
I was considering Brooklyn Bedding’s Total Latex, Flexus 9" latex, and the EcoSleep Cassidy.
BB has the most information available about their mattresses than anyone else I’ve seen. They’re very transparent about materials and specs. I do believe their Total Latex and the Flexus 9" are probably almost exactly the same in every way but there’s no way to feel the BB mattress here in LA. BB’s queen TL would have been $1800, I’m not sure if they throw in pillows and/or 5% off for TMU members. It’s as good a deal as Flexus though.
The EcoSleep had good specs and the best price at $1149 but there wasn’t much info to go on about the company and no way to actually feel the mattress.
Flexus has a showroom 30 mins from me so I was able to go lay on a few of their mattresses and and make sure it was good. James is a really cool guy and very helpful sales person who didn’t do any hard selling or pressuring. He isn’t as informative on ILD #s as you might hope but he was very genuine in his reasoning that people let their minds trick them a bit when it comes to numbers and they don’t feel things as accurately.
The Flexus mattress comes to you as a roll packed comfort layer, a rolled core layer, and the quilted cover. Assembly required. This is a much harder task than you might think…big latex foam sheets behave much like an adult unconscious or dead body. Heavy, floppy and very attracted by gravity! Took me awhile to get it all situated but it all worked out in the end. I believe the other 2 mentioned here come as a fully assembled mattress in a single roll pack. If you are not a strong and careful person it might be better to get the pre-assembled deal.
I’ve only had my mattress for two nights so I’m still getting used to it but so far I haven’t woken with tingling, sleeping arms as I did with my last mattress. I’m not sure I made the perfect choice in mattress but it is really good and will likely end up being a great feeling, fitting mattress for years to come!

It’s been a few months now and I’m still very happy with this mattress. Lately I’ve been staying at my girlfriend’s place and she has a very very nice brand name mattress but it doesn’t feel as good as mine…especially for side sleeping (too firm).
My Flexus feels great and I sleep very deeply on it. The other day I had my fitted sheet off of it and was laying on the bare mattress. The soft bamboo cover made me wish I didn’t need to put a fitted sheet on! I guess it’s time I go find some bamboo sheets to replace my others.
Soon I’ll be giving this mattress a big test. I’m moving to a new place and I’ve gotta stuff the mattress in my car. I’m pretty sure I can double over the foam since the layers came rolled up. We’ll see!!!

Folding your mattress should be no problem and putting it in a cardboard mattress box can also make latex much easier to move and carry (although it wouldn’t fit into a car that way).
I agree that besides being very good at wicking moisture, bamboo has a great hand feel as well.
Bamboo is also my favorite material for socks!
