At the beginning of this year, I asked a few questions about latex mattresses - and I received a very thorough and helpful response from Phoenix. I’d like to repay their kindness with a review of the mattress that we ended up getting - in the chance that someone may find it helpful.
We ended up purchasing a King size Organic Mattress with VZone from Flobeds. This is the first time that we’ve ever purchased a mattress online - so, we were a bit nervous. We contacted Flobeds via email with a few questions, and received VERY courteous and detailed responses directly from Dewey. All of the responses via email were very quick - always courteous - and quite helpful. We actually communicated completely through email - it was what worked for our schedules - and by the end of our email discussion, Dewey helped us feel much more at ease with purchasing.
Delivery of the mattress was quick, and as guesstimated by their website at the time of order.
We actually decided to make our own DIY slate foundation - within our already existing bed frame. (other posts on this website helped us come up with a plan for this foundation - so, thanks again to Mattress Underground posters!!)
My husband and I are fairly ‘normal’ in size/weight – although what women wouldn’t mind losing a bit - ha! We both ordered an X-Firm base, on top of that we have a Firm - then my husband ordered a Firm VZone - and I ordered a Medium VZone (as I tend to prefer softer mattresses).
Installation was pretty easy. The online video that they offer was quite helpful, along with the instructions sent.
The quality of the components of the mattress were top notch – the cover was well made and beautiful!
First few days - we did experience a bit of adjustment to it - we were a little achy here and there - but, it didn’t take long to get past that stage.
I did find however, that I actually liked the feel of my husbands side more than mine. My bottom sank down more than I preferred. So, we contacted Dewey - and since we were within the first 90 days - he immediately send us 3 pieces of VZone to transform my ‘Medium’ side into a ‘Firm’ side like my husbands. (no shipping, and no need to ship the old pieces back to them - so easy)
Flobeds customer service can NOT be beat. Very responsive - and so friendly about everything. They really do seem to care about your happiness with their product.
We love that we can adjust from head to toe with the VZone layer. We do feel that as our bodies age, we’ll be able to adjust this mattress to our needs.
We’re quite happy with this purchase - we’ve slept on the mattress for 5 months now.
We did receive two King size pillows with this purchase as well – and they’re the BEST pillows that we’ve ever had - we’re considering getting more for guests.
Would also recommend their St Dormier Mattress Protector - its the best quality mattress protector that I’ve ever used.
Aside from the expense - we didn’t experience any downside to this purchase - and would definitely recommend to others to take a close look at Flobeds mattresses! (They did honor the discount for being a member here as well - with no problems)
