Floor model questions

Hi Phoenix,
I have a few questions. Do you know if there is a limit (in years) as to how old a mattress can be and still be sold as a floor model? and must all floor models be sold with the “do not remove under penalty of law” tag still attached along with mattress contents/ingredients? Also, do you know what a “latech base” is?
Thank you so much,
jlsg

Hi Jlsgreenwich,

There isn’t a limit as far as I know.

If it really is a floor model, then the law tags need to be attached yes. If it is a refurbished or used mattresses (which are sometimes sold as “floor models”) … then the rules vary by state but will normally have a yellow and/or red tag (indicating the materials used and whether they are new or used and also indicating the disinfection method used). Different states have different requirements and regulations but in all cases there needs to be a tag attached and if there isn’t I would walk away.

The regulations for Connecticut are here.

My guess is that it’s a misspelling for something … possible latex … or possible a brand name but I don’t know for sure no and I’m not familiar with the name if it’s the correct spelling.

Thank you for the information. Could latech possibly be an abbreviation for
talatech? If so, what is talatech exactly?
As always, appreciate your time.

That would be a good possibility but it’s not an abbreviation as much as it would be a misspelling (or at least it’s not an abbreviation I’ve ever seen used)

Talatech is the brand name for blended Talalay latex made by Latex International, also called their “Talalay Classic”.
