I decided i want to go with a wood foundation for my ultimate dreams latex mattress instead of a metal frame. I found one on amazon for a very good price and would like your opinion. There are no reviews on it yet. After asking them, they said it is canadian spruce and the slats are 3" apart.
If the slats really are 3" or less apart and it really is as described it would be fine but they don’t look to me like they are less than 3" and it certainly wouldn’t be the first time that I’ve seen consumers being told that the slat distance was less than 3" when it wasn’t or it was made of one type of wood and used another.
So do you think it would be safer to go with the one at us boxspring which is one of the recommendations here… Do the local mattress stores sell the kd foundations>. silly question i know
The foundation you linked appears to be the Nature’s Sleep Foundation shown here which has gaps that are more than 3" (unless they have changed since I listed them in the foundation post) so it would be a more risky choice. I personally would choose a foundation that I knew was a “safer” choice for an all latex mattress although some people may have a different risk tolerance than I do.
If they have a free refund and return policy (including return shipping) then you could order one and measure the gaps and assess the quality of the wood to confirm what they told you and then return it if it was different from what they told you.
There’s no silly questions … only questions that don’t get asked :).
The KD foundations are designed for shipping through UPS so local stores generally wouldn’t carry KD foundations although they would carry other types of foundations.
The “3” or less" guideline is for a mattress that has a latex core. Polyfoam is a stiffer material than latex and gaps that are a little wider would generally be fine although it’s still true that “less is better” when it comes to the distance between the slats.
