I am going to have a solid wooden frame built for a 10" Latex mattress king size that I am purchasing. I am going to have the slats built with 2’*4" with 2" spacing for air flow. Does that sound alright or would you recommend 2 1/2" or 3" spacing?
Even a more important question is whether the slats should be level with the frame (i.e. the side, head and foot railings ) - In other word, should the mattress just sit atop one level surface or should the slats be sunk down a small amount to form a well for the mattress to sit in? If a well is recommended, how much should the slats be sunk below the outside frame 1/2"? The reason I was thinking a flat surface was for ease of changing sheets and blankets. The King size Dunlop mattress I’m told weighs 170 lbs. so I doubt it is going to slide on a flat surface or is there a concern of that happening?
