I’m looking for recommendations on preferably a hybrid style full size mattress. It needs to be on the softer side as I am a side sleeper. Any suggestions help, thank you.

Since your budget is quite limited, I thought it’d be relevant to include this snippet from our mattress budget article:
I would look for higher quality/density polyfoam comfort layers in this budget range in any innerspring mattress because the comfort layers are generally the weakest link in a mattress in terms of durability. You will also find some mattresses in this budget range that use relatively small amounts of specialty materials such as latex or memory foam or high performance polyfoam comfort layers on top of polyfoam support cores but some of these will include some lower quality materials in the mix as well so you will need to be very careful that there aren’t any weak links in a mattress that use specialty materials in this budget range. This is also a good budget range for better quality children’s mattresses or guest mattresses. Most of the fabrics or fibers in this budget range will be synthetic.
I’m not sure what other resources you’ve already come across on our site, but the Mattress Shopping Guidelines is also worth a read.
While we always recommend first and foremost a browse through our Trusted Member Directory, I don’t know that you’ll find a full sized bed under $500. It’s worth a look though, as they offer discounts exclusive to TMU members but also because it’s the holiday season.
Outside of our Trusted Members, I’ve personally had good luck (aka the bed is comfortable and not total trash) with the Zinus brand with the understanding that the mattress probably isn’t going to last me longer than like…5 years if I’m lucky.
