I found what seems to be a good mattress but it has gel infused latex in the comfort layer instead of just plain latex. They say
it helps the comfort layer breathe better but I am wondering if anyone has experience with this.How does it affect durability?

There are several latex manufacturers that are making gel infused latex. In the case of the Restonic though … the gel infused latex is most likely made by latex International (they are listed on the LI site) and is their Talalay GL fast response. It has phase change gel capsules added to the latex which can liquify and absorb heat and become more solid and release it within a certain temperature range (it “regulates” in both directions). While ventilation is the most important way of regulating temperature over the course of the night (and Talalay latex is already among the most breathable of the foam types) … phase change materials can have a slight temporary effect while you are going to sleep and provide a little extra temperature regulation until temperatures equalize. In general it would have the same feel and properties as their regular Talalay latex (some have said it’s a little “stiffer”) and would have similar durability as well.
Of course like any mattress purchase it’s also important to make sure you find out the thickness and foam densities of all the other layers as well.
