Giving up on this LATEX mattress and starting over

Bought a Talalay interchangeable mattress in Dec., past my 100 day warranty to return, and have tried all kinds of configurations, purchased extra layers, toppers, spent soooo. much money and I’m still miserable. I’ve come to the conclusion that I just hate latex. I don’t like the way it feels, its too bouncy, I feel like I’m sleeping on a sponge, I can feel every single movement when my cat jumps on the bed, and it’s either too hard or too soft. Layers inside the mattress cover, outside of the cover, etc. Different pillows,…I have an old back injury, neck, and shoulder, and I can’t live like this every day in pain. I’m done with you LATEX!

Now, I have to start over. I’m going to try to sell either the whole mattress with toppers or sell toppers separately.

Im in CANADA btw.

I don’t know what type of mattress to try next. I went from a firm spring pillow top type mattress that was sinking in the middle so I tried the latex. I’m thinking of a hybrid coil with gel foam. I tried a 2" gel foam topper with the latex and loved it. It felt firm yet enough cushion to sink in the right parts but not too much. That last for about 3 days and then it started to just stay compressed completely. But I do like the feel of the gel foam over latex waaaaayyyyy better.

Knowing that I don’t like the feel of latex and cannot get it to the right comfort level, but like the feel of gel foam, …are there any types of mattresses I should try? It’s overwhelming starting over again and I know latex lasts forever, etc., and I may need to replace other types of mattresses more often, but I’m fine with that if I can find relief and quality sleep. I haven’t slept well in months with this latex.

Here is some more information on my sleep situation:

female
5’3"
125 lbs.
side sleeper
Back, neck, shoulder injuries

Any direction would be helpful.
Thanks.

Sorry that the full latex attempt didn’t work out better for you, I have seem similar complaints from light sleepers around your weight. Since you stated that you loved the combination of a gel memory foam topper with the latex other than the foam becoming compressed after a few days, I’d suggest that you pursue a similar configuration but with higher quality/density memory foam. I’m not familiar with sources for such foams in Canada, and just read that TMU Trusted Member MFC in Canada is currently having difficulty obtaining high density foam. Maybe someone else can help identify another seller in Canada.

Thanks very much Bill for your thoughtful and compassion reply.

I also read about MFC having issues and wasn’t too pleased with my experience with them in the past, so am reluctant anyway.

I’m wondering about trying the Ghostbed memory foam topper. Everything is so expensive and the toppers are not returnable. I just sunk over $400 into a FloBed convoluted topper that I do not like the feel of at all and its not helping to alleviate pressure points at all.

GhostBed toppers are not available on Amazon unfortunately, where they would be returnable.

If you search you should be able to find some other toppers that are returnable. Besides Amazon Costco comes to mind although they require a membership. Good luck and I hope you’re able to find a solution which works for your needs.
