DIY mattress with a poly foam base with two memory foam layers above that, is it necessary to glue them all to one another? They would be sealed inside a mattress cover. I would think it’d be easier to swap out layers in the future if I didn’t glue them, but I don’t know how much they’ll shift around if I don’t. I would think the mattress cover should keep them pretty lined up, but I’m not positive. Thoughts?
Mattress manufacturers tend to glue layers together to somewhat improve durability and help with shipping. When doing a DIY mattress there really isn’t any reason to glue them together especially since it hampers your ability to make layer changes easily. Even with zoning layers (layer edges that run across the sleeping surface) I wouldn’t really recommend it unless you were sure you wouldn’t need any adjustments for the life of the material. There are some situations where gluing can make sense (such as on a thick base layer) but in general I would not suggest doing it.
Cool, thanks, good to know, that’s one less thing to mess with.
