There seems to be an endless list of companies selling latex mattresses but what companies are making mattresses. I have a Natura all latex and it is starting to bother my hips after only 10 years. It was $2200 10 years ago so I don’t mind paying for a good mattress but I don’t know which company to choose. I have pretty much decided against PlushBeds and Latex for Less.
Latex Mattress Factory is a solid pick if you’re looking to build a mattress that really fits what you need now. They have an excellent team that will collaborate with you to get the ideal mattress system.
Just keep a couple things in mind. You’re 10 years older, and over time, your preferences and comfort needs may have changed. We’re not exactly the spring chickens we once were.
Also, take a close look at the mattress surface and check for any dips or sagging. Then get underneath it and look at the frame base, especially in the spots where the top might be showing wear. Watch for any flexing, bowing, or anything that just looks off. Even the slats being spaced too far apart can cause issues. You might have gotten a good 10 years out of it, but if the support underneath wasn’t ideal, it could have worn the mattress down faster than expected.
Ten years is a solid run, no complaints there. But it’s worth checking everything over, because that new hip discomfort might not be all about getting older. It could be the mattress starting to give out on you.

A mattress company owner told me that for people over 50 a hybrid with springs and foam is the best because of the pushback from the springs.
I’m not sure we can generalize what’s best for everyone, but that said, I’m over 50 (65, actually), and I personally prefer a hybrid or innerspring mattress over an all-foam one, no matter the type of foam. Just my preference.
In my experience, mattresses with spring support tend to offer better edge support. And I literally sleep right on the edge of the mattress. I know some all-latex brands like Flobeds and Custom Sleep Technology might say otherwise, and to their credit, they don’t ignore older or heavier folks. They just adjust the firmness and density of the latex they are using accordingly.
I always like to remind people that there’s rarely just one “right” mattress. Many styles can offer great comfort. It really depends on the specific mattress and how well it fits your needs.
Honestly, if someone swapped out my mattress while I was on vacation and replaced it with a high-quality latex model that matched my comfort preferences, I might sleep just fine on it. That said, knowing it’s all latex might still mess with my head a little. That’s just how it goes sometimes.
I like a mattress with quality firm supportive springs. That’s just me.

Flobeds and CST are good companies? I don’t know about the flobed since it is made for 2 individual sides and i sleep in the middle. Just wondering how they compare to Natura or if it is just marketing stuff to charge a higher price for all the zoned comfort stuff
With @FloBeds and @CST both use talalay latex in their designs. Both will customize your mattress to your exact specifications.
CST’s website is crazy good from the point of offering some of the most customizable designs. They can modify each layer of mattress for upper, middle and lower body comfort.
Both are very good, reliable companies, with expert staff to help craft a mattress that will resolve all your pressure point and comfort needs.
If you dont require all of the separate zones and targeted comfort, either can make you a basic talalay latex mattress to your specific firmness level.
Does anybody have a list of companies making/selling latex mattresses that are not well known? The ones who advertise the most are the ones I typically avoid.
I bought a split king mattress (ie: 2 twinXLs) from SleepEZ. They’ve been delivered, but not unboxed yet. Our adjustable bedframes are being setup in the morning, so I’ll get the mattresses set up once that’s done. I can’t wait!
I’ve had a really positive experience so far - they were helpful here when I was first looking. Their rep here helped me figure out what my husband and I needed based on our stats - our heights, weights, sleep positions, and my need to be cooler in order to get any sleep. Once the order was placed online, they called me to confirm my mattress choice before starting to make it, etc. Quality customer service. I’ll start finding out tomorrow how well the mattress works for me and my husband. If it’s not ideal, we know we can make changes to the various layers, add a topper, etc. And Sleep EZ will work with us to make it just right.
I really can’t wait to sleep on my new bed and see how it goes. ![]()
I agree with Maverick. I used Latex Mattress Factory for my DIY and they were great to work with. Very knowledgable and helpful. Prior to going DIY I had a less-than-favorable experience with PlushBeds.
Thanks for your great responses Maverick. Does Latex Mattress Factory allow you to use springs when you’re building a mattress with them? This is the first that I’ve heard of them. I’m currently considering SleepEZ but I have a concern about the lack of a coil design.
Yes @Latex_Mattress_Fact1 will allow you to craft your own mattress as a DIY with springs and will even guide you if you need help.
