I got my very first latex mattress 2 weeks ago. It’s a 10” with a firm and medium Dunlop layer, and the top layer is soft Talalay. From SleepEZ.
I was told that a Latex mattress should be very good at isolating movement from other sleepers. What I’ve noticed so far though is that for one, it’s very jiggly. My own motions resonate throughout the bed for a bit when I move around. And then last night when I had another sleeper in the bed with me I could feel every motion from that person quite well.
Are other mattress types like hybrid or foam even worse than latex, or is latex really not that motion isolating as people claim? As so far I’m not a fan of the feel because of this.

Hey bleep123,
Latex mattresses are generally known for their durability, support, and some level of motion isolation, but they can vary in their performance based on construction and materials.
The combination of firm and medium Dunlop with a soft Talalay top layer may be contributing to the “jiggly” feel. Talalay latex tends to be more buoyant and responsive compared to Dunlop latex, which might be causing more motion transfer.
The specific thickness and firmness of each layer can also affect how motion is absorbed or transferred across the mattress.
The type of foundation or bed frame you’re using can impact the overall feel and motion isolation of the mattress. A solid foundation tends to minimize motion transfer compared to a flexible one.
Have you spoken with @Sleep_EZ ? Perhaps they could help you adjust your setup to narrow down and target the issues you are facing.

Hi bleep123 and thanks for the order and thanks for reaching out on this! Please keep in mind that we ship out our covers to be tight because we understand that the cover will loosen up and break in over the first 2 months of use, at which point it will be the “right size.” Since the cover is tighter than “normal” right now, it’s giving the mattress more surface tension and therefore more motion transfer. Once the fabric and stitching in the cover breaks in and loosens up, the motion transfer should go down quite a bit. If you want to see what the mattress will feel like once the cover breaks in, you can go over to the mattress as it is now and just unzip the zipper, while leaving the cover and everything else where it’s at. So just unzip the zipper. If you try this and things get better, then you know you just need to wait for the cover to break in.
Aside from that, do you happen to have the mattress on a box spring (with actual springs in it)?
Thanks, I’ll try that tonight. Am also using it with the included mattress protector to minimize moisture reaching the mattress, not sure if that can significantly impact what I’m feeling. I’m using it with the ironwood foundation I also bought from you guys, on the wooden legs, so that should provide a very stable platform.
@Sleep_EZ otherwise what other options would there be?
OK I doubt it’s the foundation or protector, so hopefully it’s just the tightness of the cover.
@Sleep_EZ
I did what you suggested, unzipping the mattress cover, and putting the mattress protector + fitted sheet back onto the mattress. Sleeping on it now, it actually feels more comfortable (slightly softer), but the jiggly feeling and motion transfer is still there (perhaps a bit less than at first, but still noticeable). Any other suggestions? It’s a 50/50 split across all layers (and on each side the layers are the same), not sure if that will matter.
So it will get better as the bottom section of the cover breaks in over the next month or 2, for sure. Outside of waiting for another month or 2, I really don’t think there’s anything significant you can do.

Ok, I’ll keep using it for another 2 months, and will zip the cover back on so it can break in fully. I mostly sleep in it alone so I’ll sleep on both sides (it’s a King size) to help it break in.
If I don’t notice a significant improvement after 2 months, given the cost I’ll likely return it.
Sounds like a plan! Let us know how it goes and please let us know if there’s anything else we can help with.
