Great purchase experience

I’ve found the information in this website excellent, and in particular excellent job of the PPP methodology Phoenix. Every mattress store should have that documented for customers as they walk in. Luckily, I found a mattress store that seems to follow a similar methodology naturally themselves.

As I found this by google, and others may find this helpful, I believe it worthwhile documenting my wonderful purchase experience. I live in Calgary AB, Canada, and purchased 2 Green Sleep Vicence beds from The Mattress and Sleep Company (TMASC) - king and twin xl (9" all natural latex, Dunlop, composed of 3 layers 3" each, with wool and cotton cover). We did the green sleep organic mattress protectors and S-200 foundations as well.

Tmasc have been wonderful, and I recommend them to everyone that knows me. I’m especially detailed focused, and ask about a billion questions, and they were/still-are wonderful in answering my questions, and their service excellent (as many members here seem to know, the initial purchase may be followed up with some tweaks for comfort, which is when having amazing service really helps!). Their products and the experience with them tends to be higher end, and that was something that is part of my own preference / ‘value’ proposition. We got pillows (down and a zedbed memory foam), sheets (cotton and linen), and some other beddings also.

I’m happy to answer any specific questions about my experience with tmasc, or the green sleep beds I got, etc., but… It’s less common to see posts about good experiences, but thought it might help some here.

Thanks Phoenix. As I said, the PPP methodology documented in the mattress selection info should be made into a 1 page phamphlet that everyone gets when walking into a mattress store / seeking to make a mattress purchase.

Thanks,

Hi dn,

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback about TMASC.

As you may already be aware, I know them well (for almost 3 years), talk with them fairly often, and think very highly of them and the knowledge, service, and “value” they bring to their customers. They are “experts” and “mattress people” in every sense of the word and they are very much in line with the goals and ideals of this site.

Most of all … congratulations on your new mattress

Phoenix

Hi Phoenix,

I became aware that they know you, mostly when I asked them about themattressunderground.com and mentioned the name ‘Phoenix’ based on the research I was doing. I had asked them to comment on some of your comments about a mattress topper and also had inquired if they knew this website existed, they said they know you well and have for some time even before this website.

They say very positive things of you too. In my purchase, I worked with the brother of the fellow I understand you best know, as I’m in Calgary (one managers Edmonton, the other Calgary, both principles in the company).

It was actually trying to validate /audit some info in their knowledge base, which also has significant info in it about mattresses and also bedding, that I happened across this website. I’ve been semi immersed in reading about the mattress industry since (no I can’t explain why, but it’s quite fascinating). It helped that my experience at tmasc was a delight - it was a lot of fun working with them on the bed, then selecting beddings, etc., they made me and my wife feel like a million bucks (no, we don’t have a million bucks  ) - so we keep in touch and have been frequent repeat customers.

So at some point I put 2+2 together and decided to post my positive experience so that other people might be able to benefit too.

That’s not even to say the mattresses were “perfect” - we got 2 beds (I snore so terribly I get kicked out each night, so we got our king bed for master and twin xl for me), and because latex is mix able between the twin xl and half the king, we got a little variation in firmness to experiment with. One of the firmer latex plates we got didn’t work comfort wise, so we’re mid correction on that, which is a process of choosing between a topper vs softer plate (both current and potential new developments from Green Sleep), or both. We err’d deliberately on the slightly too firm for that latex, so we went into that decision educated and prepared that we might need to change.

But by being an enjoyable process, having tmasc be super responsive and extremely knowledgable, we’re in good hands. It helps that being able to mix and match plates ‘real time’, then be able to sleep on it a couple nights, has helped to trial things too.

Thanks,
