At first it was great. But, then after a year the latex started to break down and indentations showed. After 2 years the indentation was very bad on the top three layers and even had indentation on the lowest firm layer. Very disappointed with the quality of this latex.
Originally I liked the feel and the option to change layers around. But after 2 years it was done. I’ve now built myself an amazing DIY hybrid latex mattress.
I wasn’t going to post on here, but I see the owner of MFC has deleted all the negative reviews from his site. I wasn’t the only one to leave a poor review on there, but now all the negative reviews are all gone…
I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing comfort issues with your Presto mattress. I’d like to take a moment to address your concerns and provide some insight into the indentations you’re experiencing.
The body impressions you’ve mentioned are a normal occurrence in latex mattresses (especially in thinner / softer layers). As the latex breaks-in and softens over time, these impressions can form. Once they’ve developed, they typically become a stable part of the mattress and don’t worsen.
However, it’s also possible that the indentations may be a result of the mattress being placed on an improper foundation. We’ve established guidelines for our customers to follow to ensure the longevity and quality of their mattress. If the mattress isn’t supported correctly, it can lead to severe body impressions, rendering the mattress unusable and voiding the warranty.
Regarding the 2 deleted comments, we removed them because we couldn’t verify the customers in our database and suspected they might be negative comments left by competitors.
We believe your review doesn’t accurately reflect our commitment to customer satisfaction. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the opportunity to address your concerns before your review was posted. We’re curious to know why you didn’t reach out to us when you first started experiencing issues with your mattress, as it was still under warranty at the time. We’ve assisted customers in the past by replacing layers or finding alternative solutions, and we would have been happy to work with you to find a resolution.
We value your feedback and would appreciate the opportunity to make things right. If you would like to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to contact us.
The mattress was fully supported with slats that are 1.5” apart. Also
has a centre support and 4 pieces of pegboard (2 pieces of pegboard on each side of a split King mattress).
I think latex needs a coil base for support, or you need very good quality latex for an all latex bed. I have some different latex comfort layers now and will see how well they last the next year or two.
Thank you for information on the base, it sounds like a solid one!
We only use certified GOLS organic Dunlop latex in all our mattresses, here are some key differences when comparing GOLS certified latex to non-certified:
Sourcing and materials: GOLS certified Dunlop latex is made from organic rubber tree sap, which is harvested from sustainably managed forests. This means that the latex is free from synthetic chemicals, pesticides, and fertilizers. Non-organic Dunlop latex, on the other hand, may contain a blend of natural and synthetic materials.
Low-VOC emissions: Organic GOLS certified Dunlop latex has lower VOC (volatile organic compound) emissions compared to non-organic Dunlop latex. This is because the organic latex is processed using a more natural method that doesn’t involve harsh chemicals.
Higher durability: Organic GOLS certified Dunlop latex is often more durable and long-lasting than non-organic Dunlop latex. This is due to the higher quality of the organic materials and the more rigorous processing standards.
Improved breathability: Organic GOLS certified Dunlop latex is known for its excellent breathability, which allows for better airflow and moisture regulation. This can lead to a cooler and more comfortable sleeping surface.
Reduced allergenic potential: Organic GOLS certified Dunlop latex is less likely to cause allergic reactions compared to non-organic Dunlop latex. This is because the organic latex is free from synthetic chemicals and other potential allergens.
Social and environmental responsibility: GOLS certification also ensures that the latex is produced in a socially and environmentally responsible manner. This includes fair labor practices, sustainable forestry management, and minimal environmental impact.
Third-party verification: GOLS certification involves third-party verification, which ensures that the latex meets strict standards for quality, safety, and sustainability.
In terms of specific quality differences, organic GOLS certified Dunlop latex typically has:
A higher density (around 85-90 kg/mÂł) compared to non-organic Dunlop latex (around 70-80 kg/mÂł)
A higher tensile strength (around 200-250 kg/cm²) compared to non-organic Dunlop latex (around 150-200 kg/cm²)
A lower compression set (around 20-30%) compared to non-organic Dunlop latex (around 30-40%)
Overall, organic GOLS certified Dunlop latex is considered a higher-quality material compared to non-organic or non-certified Dunlop latex.
Thank you and please follow up with us in a year or so on how the mattress performs after the break-in period,
