Help choosing a mattress protector for the Glacier Apex Hybrid for < $200

Hi all,

I purchased a new Glacier Apex Hybrid a few weeks ago and want to replace my old mattress protector. (It is 14 inches, hybrid memory-foam and springs.)

Here’s what I think I’d want out of the protector:

  • Temperature (tend towards hot sleeper)
  • Breathability
  • Preserve the original feel of the bed
  • Water resistant (main concern is sweat)
  • Allergy resistance, particularly dust mites

From browsing, here are two options that caught my eye:

  • Naturepedic Organic Waterproof Mattress Protector

  • St. Dormeir Wool Mattress Protector

Naturepedic is cotton, and St. Dormeir is wool. I am leaning towards wool due to its temperature regulation and maybe allergy resistance. I am a little concerned about whether the St. Dormeir 16 inch sheet would fit - it might (?) fit a 14 inch, but the Flo Sleep site lists 12.

If there’s any other considerations, or any additional options I should look at, please let me know. Thanks!

Congratulations on your @GlacierSleep Apex! I have this mattress in one of our guest rooms, and our guests absolutely love it. It’s better than any luxury hotel mattress, in my opinion and is comfortable yet sturdy, exactly what you’d expect from a high-quality mattress.

Both mattress protectors are very good options. I actually use two: one directly on the mattress, and a second wool-quilted mattress protector (from Cuddledown, although they no longer carry my exact one on their website, it is available on Amazon). This wool filled protector has a fitted skirt that goes over both the topper and the mattress together.

Use your new mattress in good health!
