This will be my first mattress I buy myself and am ready to spend. A little of background, we went into a Mattress Firm and this lady got us to like this one but it was way beyond my budget. My girlfriend and I are both side sleepers and like like it medium firm. I wasn’t not okay with it but I love the bed. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to find the best deal or if this is a good deal? Any good sales for memorial weekend? Anyway to get something similar for a little cheaper? Thanks in advanced!
Welcome to The Mattress Underground ! My apologies for the late response and as the Labor Day sales weekend is in motion, this reply may arrive too late to be useful.
Congrats on your first mattress purchase:) ! If you are a regular follower of TMU, you know we’re gonna ask questions regarding both of your personal stats, as not only your sleeping position(s) matter, but also weight, height, and body shape/ weight distributions all play roles in determining durability potential for a mattress. What size mattress are you purchasing and what is your budget?
Thanks for providing the reference link, Friendlyx; I always appreciate the time saving of searching for products . From Sealy’s site, their Hybrid Premium Silver Chill mattress consists of several layers of memory foam/ proprietary foams over their HD zoned pocket coil mattress and is available in a single firmness: Firm. The site doesn’t provide enough spec information to make any meaningful durability assumptions, so there is no way to speculate on whether you’d be getting “a good deal” or not. Before looking for deals, first decide what you seek in terms of comfort, support, and performance of your first mattress. If you make educated decisions that are component-understanding based, your new mattress will be your best friend, serving you well for many years to come. Here are a few Phoenix tutorials that will introduce you to the World of Mattress Shopping: “Five Steps to Your Perfect Mattress” is a primer for creating a matress shopping process; “The Basic Functions of a Mattress” explains the roles that Comfort (pressure relief) and Support (spinal alignment) play together; and for you especially, "Mattress Specifications You Need to Know"provides a checklist of mattress spec questions to bring along on your showroom visits.
Perhaps there are TMU consumers who may have been scouting Labor Day deals in your area; any one out there who can help Friendlyx on that front? Good luck with your mattress shopping and let us know how things go .
