Hi beck5879 and welcome to The Mattress Underground
I am going to return our twin xl Tempurpedic Adapt Pro Hybrid Mediums… we shopped for weeks!
I thought we did a good job of shopping… we both hate our mattresses after 2 months!
The 120 day return policy along with 60 months no interest helped close the deal…
Sorry to hear your Tempurpedic mattresses have not worked out for you and your wife. Any mattress you find ‘ideal’ is based on your Stats (height, BMI, sleeping position(s) and any underlying health conditions) and your PPP (Posture and alignment, Pressure relief and Personal preferences). Thanks for providing you and your wife’s Stats; you did not state what your preferred sleeping positions are but as you have a bit higher BMI and hers lower, unless there are any health issues you shouldn’t have any issue with most hybrid-latex mattresses (if you like the feel of latex as comfort layer) as long as they provide good spinal alignment and support, and of course, comfort for you both. You might want to take a look at our

If wevjust return them, I get TWO restocking fees because it’s two mattresses. After 2 months, they are still too hard and very hot.
It may be a blessing in disguise that you had to return it sooner rather than later. Tempurpedic, like many major retailers, is not very transparent about the materials and components used in their products, The Tempur ProAdapt 12" Medium Hybrid Mattress has no information on the layer thicknesses, and as these are made with proprietary materials, no foam density information is readily available on these. As you have found, marketing and discounts are heavily favored in their advertising, all of which can be major red flags for consumers. They are also using smart catchy phrases that sound good in theory, but not substantiated by real specs. so that you can compare the product with similar mattresses from what they call “off-brands” manufacturers which in reality are transparent with what’s in their mattresses so that you can take a decision in full knowledge
I’m keeping the bases, which we actually got a fantastic deal on, but my inclination is to return the $5700 worth of Mattresses, eat the $500 fee and shop online for a good latex mattress…
I should be able to get a pair of twin XLs easily for $1500 each? (We got the adjustable bases for $350 each because the showroom, litterally mispriced the mattress I wanted by $800
I am 62, 6ft 190, wife 63, 5’8" at 145… We like soft because our prior king bed had a 3 inch Tempurpedic topper…
Please, someone make a recommendation!
2 Twin XLs that are soft and cool!
Your criteria - 2 XL mattresses that are ‘soft and cool’ hybrids under $1500 each leaves you with a lot of available options. As sleeping cool is important for you, I agree that avoiding any inexpensive or low density memory foams and looking for latex options is the way to move forward. That’s the trouble with memory foam … many people find these to tend to cause people to ‘sleep hot’, as memory foam by its nature contours to the sleepers body, is less breathable, keeping perspiration close to the skin (this can be sometimes alleviated with a breathable cover of cotton, wool, coconut coir or similar).
Many of the Trusted Members of the site offer hybrid mattresses at your desired size and price point, depending on the materials the two of you find most comfortable on, and are totally transparent in their construction and materials, with quality products. If you tested and found that you enjoy the feel of latex, the Arizona Premium Mattress offers the Ultimate Hybrid Pocket Coil Latex Mattress for under $800 for a Twin XL; also the Flexus Comfort has the Quadra Flex Hybrid Latex Mattress at a similar price point. Biosleep Concept offers the Restful Tufted Mattress Restful Tufted Mattress which is made of wool with a pocketed coil innerspring layer for under $800, and Texas Mattress Makers has the Paris Mattress which is a hybrid gel and memory foam with a pocket coil layer also under $800. (See if you can find something from CST, and/or Sleep EZ as well)
As you are planning to reuse the adjustable bases you already have, I would make sure to let them know - some mattresses have specific bases that are compatible, as you don’t want to void any warranty or exchange policies, or possibly damage the mattresses …If you can provide any of the Trusted Members you are looking into with a little information - Stats, PPP and mattress history for you both - they can guide you to a great comfortable mattress which will last for many years. Once you have narrowed down to a few options of mattress please feel free to let us know and we’ll be happy to comment on each system.
