I have had my bed for 2 weeks now. I have been mostly sleeping on my side and that has been ok. No pressure on my hips or shoulders. But I don’t seem to be getting the support in my lower back when I sleep on my back. I have the Cool Luxe from Brooklyn beds. I had done comparisons with the Cloud Luxe and in the stores that seemed a little softer than I was wanting, but the Cool Luxe isn’t quite as soft as I think I was hoping for. I know I have to use 30 days before I can go for an exchange or refund. Don’t really want to do that. Shipping back would be a nightmare.
Hi Chirurgeon,
The initial break in period will vary depending on the type of foam and on the person sleeping on the mattress but it would typically be 90 days or less and usually in the range or 30 days or less. Higher density foam will take longer than lower density foam.
If you are getting the pressure relief you need then softer means less support not more. If a comfort layer is too soft and thick then the pelvic area can sink down too far and put your spine out of alignment. If you are getting the pressure relief you need on your side I would say you are doing well and you wouldn’t want it too much softer.
With memory foam there are also other factors that can affect the softness/firmness of the mattress and post #2 here may also be helpful.
