I was in the market for a new mattress (after giving up completely a few years ago) and stumbled upon this site last month. I asked the Great and Wonderful Phoenix a couple of questions and, on March 5th, I purchased the Ultimate Dreams Eurotop on Amazon. Chuck emailed me within a day to discuss my mattress. I prefer a soft mattress and was having trouble deciding between a 7 or an 8 but Chuck guided me to the 7. I also requested a special size to fit my smaller bed but there is an extra charge for that so I went with the Full size to allow me more options in the future.
About a week later, the mattress arrived nicely rolled up in a box. I took the mattress out of the box but left it in the plastic and took it upstairs to the bed (a two-person job for me!). It begins to expand rather quickly once you pierce the plastic so I highly recommend having another person there to help guide it onto the box spring/platform. Once in place, I let it sit without any covering and did not notice any odor or off gassing. By the way, the free pillow also arrives very flat so don’t throw it away, like I almost did! I also need to note that the mattress itself comes in a wonderfully soft cover that I could easily sleep on with no sheet!
The old mattress I had was a cheapy that had developed a large dip in it so I knew I would feel a difference on this mattress so I waited a couple of weeks to really give it an honest review. I AM IN LOVE!!! Sleeping on this mattress is like sleeping on a cloud! Now, that might be a little too figurative for folks who have never actually slept on a cloud so another way I’ve described it is like being suspended in air by a series of rubber bands. The parts of my body that need to sink are allowed to do so but not too far. And when they bottom out, so to speak, it’s not like they bottom out to the floor. It’s softer than that. Now, for the parts of the body that don’t sink, it’s like the mattress comes up to fill the gaps so that your entire body feels supported. Before, when I woke up, I would be exhausted, like I hadn’t gotten any sleep at all. I’m now waking up feeling completely rested!
The two questions I had before purchasing the mattress were would it work with my box spring and would it be okay to use my electric linen (mattress warmer and blanket). I have an antique bed with an original metal coil box spring and the Ultimate Dream mattress is well supported on it. Chuck recommended placing a board between the mattress and box spring but I haven’t needed to do that as yet. It’s higher than my old mattress but not so high it’s inconvenient. And I measured it ahead of time so I knew it would be higher (thanks, Phoenix!). I live in the NE United States and it can get quite cold up here in the winter so my mattress warmer and electric blanket have always been on 4 or 5 and I would let them warm up for a few hours before climbing in. I’ve only done that once with my Ultimate Dream mattress. Even with my snake blood, that was a little too toasty for me! Now, I put them on 2 and I only have to let it sit for about half an hour to knock the chill off of the sheets. If I wasn’t completely unconscious, I would be warm enough to turn them off in the middle of the night!
This is the best mattress I have ever owned and the best money ever spent. I feel like ordering another one and storing it away for ten or fifteen years down the road when this one is due to retire! I’m afraid to get ones for the guest rooms because the guests would never leave!! I can’t say enough good things about this mattress and the entire purchase process.
Thanks for your time and I hope this info is helpful to someone!
