In the last two years, I have spent over $5000 on two different mattresses total. The first one was plush tight top and it was too soft. The second was extra firm pillow top and it’s worse than the first one. Do they even make decent mattresses like they did 20 years ago? I had a select comfort bed 20 years ago and it was fantastic but now they have completely changed how they are made and I’m not too sure about them. My mother has two mattresses that have been in her home for over two decades and still in great shape. Their brand new sterns and Foster sags like an elephant slept on it and neither of my parents are heavy. I’m beginning to wonder if I should just go buy a super cheap mattress and end up with something better than the expensive ones. I know the ones that I’ve slept on at the Sheraton and the Hilton are always comfortable. Where can we buy those? I just need honest input before I go purchase a custom-made mattress from a local mattress company. I really can’t afford to keep buying mattresses like this. Help!

Hi Wilderness775.
Welcome to our Mattress Forum. ![]()
Sorry to hear of the bad streak of beds.
If you reach out to those chains directly, they often are able to tell you exactly what model and where to buy them.
Yes, if you know where to look. Since your title suggests you’re after something two-sided, I’d suggest looking at @NestBedding’s Raven Flippable mattress or reaching out to @foxmattress (you can see their site here) - they specialize in traditional, two sided beds that are built to last. They do ship nationwide, but you’ll need to call or email to get the process started since they don’t do online sales.
You may also wish to check out the flippable Kensington from @SDMattressMakers or the Classic two-sided mattress from @DLX
