I bought the Brooklyn Bedding #BestMattressEver Queen medium mattress. I just did it online without talking or chatting with them. Oddly enough, they throw in the sheets and one pillow without requiring me to write a review, It was just on the invoice for free… I used the PayPal Credit option.
I did a lot of research before I bought this mattress (thanks Mattress Underground for having all the information!), and at what I set my budget at, this was the best value. What with work and such, I am not sure I can ‘free’ the mattress until Friday morning, So I hope it can sitting in it;s bag for an extra day or two. I guess I could let it inflate in the extra bedroom before that, but 90 pounds is going to be a bit hard to lug around, and it would be easier to wait till Friday morning and put it directly on the bed.
What do you think? Would it be really hard to let it inflate in the extra room and move it to the bedroom, or can I just wait and put it directly on the bed and give it maybe 14 hours to inflate? We need to sleep somewhere Friday night.
As you know I think you made a great quality/value choice and I’m looking forward to your comments and feedback once you’ve received it and have had the chance to try it out.
It will be fine to leave it compressed for a few days and it would be easier to let it decompress on the bed itself rather than moving it after it’s decompressed.
Thanks Phoenix. It always amazes me how fast you reply to comments here, and always with precise and informed information. “Decompress” was the word I was looking for rather than"inflate". “Inflate” makes it sound like an air-mattress…
It has reached the point that I can’t sleep on our old 15 year old innerspring mattress for even seven hours without shoulder and back pains. I woke up this morning at 4:00 A.M. tossing and turning. The lack of motion isolation with the old mattress means I wake up Lisa when I give up and get out of bed. She is grumpy when she is woken up that early.
When I wake up early in the morning,
Lift my head,i’m still yawning.
When I 'm in the middle of a dream,
Stay in bed float up stream.
Please don’t wake me,no don’t shake me,
Leave me where I am, I’m only sleeping.
Everybody seems to think I’m lazy. I don’t mind,
I think they’re crazy.
Running everywhere at such a speed.
Till they find,there’s no need.
Please don’t spoil my day, I’m on my way.
And after all, I’m only sleeping.
Keeping an eye on the world going by my window,
Taking my time, lying there and staring at the ceiling,
Waiting for the sleepy feeling.
Please don’t spoil my day, I’m miles away.
And after all, I’m only sleeping.
Keeping an eye on the world going by my window.
Taking my time, when I wake up early in the morning,
Lift my head,i’m still yawning.
When I’m in the middle of a dream, stay in bed, float
Up stream.
Please don’t wake me, no don’t shake me, leave me where I am
I’m only sleeping.
I can’t believe I didn’t recognize it … I’ve listened to it enough times!
While we’re on the theme of sleep … here’s another one about sleeping that I like that will hopefully be a better reflection of how you sleep on your new mattress
The mattress arrived today. Getting it up the stairs is a bit more of a chore than I thought. For just one person it is a challenge. But with very minimal help from a second person, it is really very easy. We have a little folding dolly, so all that Lisa had to do was hold the handle at the top while I simply pushed the mattress up from the bottom.
It was too late to let it decompress, so we put it in the extra room still in the box and sitting on the dolly.
They included a shredded latex pillow, which was not compressed. It is very thick. Some people do not like a thick latex pillow because it does not compress the way they are use to. But the Brooklyn Bedding pillow has a zipper on the side. So, you can just take out some of the shredded latex until you have the thickness you like.
Tomorrow I should have time to put it on the bed. I will up date the unboxing.
Three weeks later. I meant to post last weekend, but I am glad that I waited.
I use to have back and shoulder pain. Nothing to serious, but sort of a constant nagging pain. I marked it down to getting older and bad posture. I was sleeping on a 15 year old innerspring mattress, and I guess I had developed bad sleeping habits. After about six hours of sleep I would start flopping around. I would sleep on my left side, then my right side, sometimes flat on my back, but not for long before I flopped again. I tended to sleep on the edge of the mattress because it was the only part that still offered suitable support.
Then I bought the Brooklyn Bedding #BME.
At first their medium firm mattress seemed a bit too firm to me, but I noticed that I was not flopping around as much at night. I would wake up pain free. As the day wore on, some of the old pains would creep back up. But, like I mentioned earlier, I think it was because I had developed some bad sleeping habits. I would still crook my legs in odd angles.
Three weeks later, I am pain free 24 hours a day. I sleep mostly on my back now, and if I wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, I immediately fall back to sleep. Before if I got up at three, I would toss and turn for a couple of hours before giving it up and climbing out of bed. The Brooklyn Bedding mattress has been nothing short of a minor miracle for me - but remember I was sleeping on a 15 year old mattress, and I did not realize how bad it had gotten.
Another thing I should mention is that the edge support is not nearly as extreme as some people led me to believe. To be honest the first couple of mornings as I rolled over to get out of bed, I sort of fell out of bed. When sitting on the edge of the bed to put shoes on or something requires you to sit back a tad more than an innerspring mattress does. But as far as sleeping goes, I really do not see any difference between the latex mattress and my old innerspring mattress. I can sleep as close to the edge as I want.
