Hi mattress underground! I want to start of by thanking you for all of your amazing resources. I have been on a 6+ month mattress journey and it seems like I am almost to the finish line.
I have a new mattress which is:
8" quantum edge elite zoned coil
3" soft/med split talalay (I believe the soft is 20 ild and the med is 28 ild)
1" cotton wool cover
I am a 190 lb side sleeper (most of the time) and it seems like:
*The medium side pushes on shoulder blades and on the side pushes a bit on my shoulder. But I don’t go through the layer into the springs.
*The soft feels better on my shoulder, but it feels like I am going through the layer and into the springs for my hips and shoulder.
It seems like my options are:
- Buy a 3" replacement layer (most likely dunlop) in (soft or med), replace the talalay and put the talalay on top
- Buy a 2" or 3" topper (talalay or dunlop) in (soft or med) and put it on top of my current talalay 3" layer.
- Buy a memory foam topper. (Though I would love to stick with latex due to the coolness and feel)
My reasoning behind the dunlop below is due to the info in the “Mattress comfort layers” being overall more supportive. I also don’t know if you can stack the talalay and still have it be supportive.
Thank you again for your time and replies.
