Hello all,
I’m trying to locate and purchase a 2" talalay queen size 24 ild topper, no cover. Unsuccessful so far. I’d imagine I can special order if I try to go that route, but trying to avoid that at this point.
I see 20-24, 22, 24-28, 28, but no 24.
My mattress currently consists of:
1). comfort 3" 19 ild. found this online.
2). support 2" 24 ild need to replace this layer.
3). core 6" 36 ild.
4). stabilizer 1" 50 ild
I’m 5’9" 175 lbs side sleeper.
Excuse my ignorance, but i’d like to ask, if I was to choose between a 22, 20-24, or 28 in place of a 24, which might be closest? I do realize these numbers are not really reliable. I’m thinking perhaps one wouldn’t even notice a difference, but of course you know better than I.
Thanks in advance to all that reply.
Luma Sleep carries a 2" 24 ILD blended Talalay topper that is made by Talalay Global. Go down to the reviews section and choose the “questions” tab here for the ILDs: https://lumasleep.com/products/talalay-latex-comfort-layer?variant=5315801251878
We have tried both ILD 22 and 28 Talalay (natural) that is made by the same manufacturer, and although there is no doubt that the 22 is softer than the 28, it isn’t extremely different. We have also tried blended 28 Talalay, and compared to natural Talalay, the natural one seemed ever so slightly firmer (consistent with what I’ve read about the natural one having a higher compression modulus – it gets firmer faster).
My guess is that 22 and 24 would be very difficult to tell apart because they’re less than 10% apart in firmness. If the 24 you’re looking at is blended, and the 22 is natural, then they may be even more similar.
Thank you jendubois,
I did see the Luma topper, but again looks like a range 24-28.
2" Talalay Latex Topper:
Soft - N/A
Plush - 19 ILD
Medium - 24 ILD
Medium+ - 28 ILD
Medium-Firm - 32 ILD
Firm - 36 ILD
X-tra Firm - 40 ILD
That’s great info, the 24 on my mattress now is a blend. I did find a 22 in natural for a very good price.
This is new to me, I figured it would be safer to ask before I make a mistake.
Thanks again
Happy Thanksgiving.
