In the market for a new mattress

Hi all,

Because of a move, I recently gave up my really old mattress of 20 years which was great, even after all that time it was still in good shape. The mattress was a Simmons Beautyrest First Impressions model with I believe individual pocketed coils and it didn’t have a pillow top.

I was thinking of getting something similar again, but when I looked online, I saw the mattress market has exploded in the last 20 years. It’s almost impossible to choose! I am a side sleeper. But I switch from one side to the other especially in the beginning when I am trying to fall asleep. I am 5’11, 180 lbs.

I’ve tried lying on the Tempurpedic memory foam mattresses and while that sinking filling was cool at first, I’m not sure it would be great over the long haul as I think I would get pretty hot with the lack of air flow. There were no hotness problems like this with the Simmons I used to have.

So maybe I should get something like the Simmons again - not sure if that model is still even around? Or maybe a latex mattress based on some of the tutorial I read on this site. Maybe a hybrid? I really have no idea!!!

Can someone make specific recommendations? I’m in Canada. I would say my budget is in the $1000 to $2000 range, but I could go higher if an ideal candidate shows up. I also want to buy an upholstered bed frame that goes along with it, so I imagine that could cost another $1000.

Any suggestions? Thank you in advance for any contributions.

Edit: Dormez vous is a popular store in Canada that I can go to try any suggestions someone may have.

Edit2: For the next few months I will be sitting in the bed and working since I will have no other furniture yet.

Good mattress selection you got there!!!

This is just my opinion….so feel free to ignore it.

The Airelooms rock. Aireloom M1 firm, M1 Plush, M2 Firm, M2 Plush are all great. Firm has a firmer coil than plush. M1 means 1 row of Microcoils and M2 is 2 rows of microcoils. I like M1 Firm myself. But try them all out!!! There is also a Aireloom mattress pad you can put on top!!!

I tried Aireloom Preferred vs VISpring. VISpring mord expensive, but I like Aireloom better. Also, dont think M2 is 2 times better than M1!!! Well…too much cushioning can be bad too.

I tried Dr Preferred Box LuxeTop. I didnt like them. Aireloom was way better.

Also look into Aireloom Preferred Streamline Luxury Firm. Bestselling mattress in Aireloom!! Try it out!!

Im making a decision between Tempurpedic Luxe Adapt Firm, Aireloom M1 Firm, and Aireloom Streamline Luxury Firm.

Going to Ortho Mattress to finalize decision!

Let me know which you get!!!

I posted to wrong thread! Sorry about that!

I still stand by what I wrote!

John

Airlooms are way too expensive.

I am thinking about Stearns and Foster Lakeridge from Costco, any opinions on that?

Costco has reviews on their website.
