The previous 40 year old Mattress my wife and I were sleeping on was a full size, it was previously my grandma’s. We Slept on that old Mattress about 5 years and got rid of it. I decided to order the same size mattress that was used in that room a Full since it would fit easier in the room then a Queen. I was reading online that Full Size Mattresses have much less coils then a Queen size mattress. Does this mean that a Queen Size mattress will be able to bear more bodyweight then a full size Mattress? As far as fit, my wife and I fit just fine on the old 40 yr old Full Mattress and we fit fine both of us Sleeping on our brand new Full Serta Perfect Sleeper which is exactly 54 inches I measured it; same size as our old mattress.
Is a Queen Size Mattress more durable over time for two people to sleep on then a Full?
My wife is about 5’ 4" 125 lbs and I am about 5’ 4" 245 lbs.

Amazing life span for a mattress, littleGizmo; 40 years is quite impressive! Indeed, it is time to move on to something new at this point and happy to hear that you’ve already found a new mattress replacement .
Your new Serta Perfect Sleeper’‘s support core uses their proprietary 1000 Edition Custom Support Coil System, enclosed by BestEdge Foam Encasement foam rail edge support. The amount of weight that either size mattress could support depends on the gauge of the coils (thickness), and how they are joined together, as well as the quality of the upper comfort materials. A lower gauge coil consists of a thicker wire and firmer support feel, offering better levels of support for higher BMI individuals. Which Perfect Sleeper did you go with? There are quite a few available with varying coil counts, but Sealy doesn’t disclose product specs to evaluate coil gauges or any other components in their mattresses, making it difficult to understand their mattresses construction. Generally speaking in the case of pocket coils, more is better, as they promote individual conformity of pressure relief and support across the mattress’s surface; however, without knowing the coil gauge, there is no way to speculate on how much body weight the mattress will be able to bear. Some manufacturers’ sites will state recommended maximum weights for their mattress’s optimal durability, but I wasn’t able to find that on Serta’s.
Good to hear that both of you are happy with how you fit across the full size sleep surface of your new mattress, and that the dimensions match up perfectly to your old one as that is sometimes difficult to accomplish precisely in the manufacturing process. Many couple enjoy sharing full size mattresses, and as long as it provides you both with optimal comfort and support, there’s not necessarily reason to step up to a larger size.
All things being equal (meaning the two sizes are available in quality models that ensure durability from a materials and construction standpoint), the one difference between the Queen and the Full is that the Queen has 6 inches more of surface and materials for use over time. Whether that translates into any meaningful useful life span difference is difficult to say, but depending on how the bed is used, there could be a slight advantage over a queen compared to a full size mattress. The counterpoint here is that you both enjoy your current mattress setup and moving to Queen would require not only new linens, etc. but also would reduce space in your room somewhat. How long have you had your new Perfect Sleeper and are you enjoying it so far? Well my wife and I actually love the mattress. It has felt amazing from day 1, we been on it over a week and it feels absolutely fantastic. I think it lists the coils being over 800, but I think that just applies to the Queen size we have a full size so I am sure that its less coils for a full. So far the Mattress has felt fantastic and we absolutely love the mattress. When I bought it I really didn’t know there was a difference in coils counts between sizes of mattresses. Plenty of room my wife and I fit on it fine with plenty of room, we both are combination sleepers. I am a stomach/side sleeper and she is a back/side sleeper. She has very bad back problems and the 40 yr old mattress we had she said was killing her back, the new mattress feels much better on her back. The old mattress also was stained, 40 years old, full of mold and I think causing me to have all kinds allergy problems. My allergies seemed to have calmed down with the new mattress. I thought I read on Satata’s website that Queen and King mattresses are designed for higher weight limits, while the smaller size ones can’t take nearly as much weight…so that got me worried and made me think maybe I should of got a Queen size instead…but so far the Full size is holding up fine and feels great.

Ok I will keep you updated how the Mattress is fairing long term. So far 2 weeks now and the Mattress still feels fantastic. It has softened up a bit after a couple weeks use, but even from day 1 we got it felt soft…but still a lot firmer then our old 40 year old mattress. It will feel very soft for first few inches you sink in the mattress and then you hit a very firm support layer underneath that you feel that holds your body weight up.

It has been about 6 months now since I got my Serta Perfect Sleeper in August. You asked I drop in updates how mattress is doing from time to time so I thought I give my update. I still love this Mattress 6 months later. The durability has ben fantastic. Very comfortable bed. my wife and I sleep on it well. I have had no issues with it sagging, still very comfortable and firm. My wife and I love this mattress and we have been sleeping on it at night way better than our old mattress that was 40 years old that we threw out. Absolutely love the mattress.
