Is Sleepwarehouse 10" best value?

$900 for the King size 3" 5lb Sensus. Starting to like the price and the ‘name brand’ memory foam is comforting. Probably worth the gamble with limited return policy for me. Any other mattresses with similar 5lb+ material in this price range?

Hi jaybackintheday,

This is one of those questions that only you can answer because there is no such thing as THE best value mattress … only a mattress that is the best value for YOU. The value of a mattress purchase always depends on how it compares to your other finalists or other mattresses that you are considering based on the parts of your personal value equation that are most important to you.

Sensus is one of many US made memory foams that have a “name” and 5 lb memory foam is certainly a durable material but there are many others that would also make high quality choices that are made by any of the other US foam manufacturers in a similar density so the “name” of the foam wouldn’t normally be an important factor in the “value” of a mattress.

The most important part of the “value” of a mattress purchase is how well it matches your unique needs and preferences because regardless of the cost or quality of the materials in a mattress … if it isn’t a good match for you in terms of PPP and you can’t sleep well on it then it would have little value for you (even though it may still be a good choice for someone else). I would be aware that a memory foam mattress that uses 3" of 5 lb memory foam would typically be in the firmer range and may be too firm for many people.

The next most important part of a mattress purchase is the quality/durability of the materials and from this perspective it uses good quality materials (5 lb memory foam and 1.8 lb polyfoam in the support layers).

After that … the other parts of your personal value equation that are most important to you including the options you have to customize, exchange, or return the mattress after a purchase if your choice doesn’t turn out as well as you hoped would also be an important part of the value of a mattress purchase for most people.

When you look back on a mattress purchase many years from now you will remember much more about how well you slept and how long you slept well before you began to “tolerate” the mattress more than enjoy it than how much you paid for it or relatively minor differences in price (although of course price is always an important part of any purchase).

There are certainly other memory foam mattresses in a similar price range (say @$1100 or less) that also use high quality materials but if you are confident that this mattress is the best match for you in terms of PPP (and you have hopefully had the chance to test some local mattresses that are similar) and it is a better match for your personal value equation than the other final choices you are considering then it would be the “best” value for you regardless of whether someone else would make the same choice.
