Is there a "rough price tier" post anywhere for what to expect?

So,

While I realize that prices will vary by region and supplier, I thought it would be cool to have some kind of rough guide on:

  • how much mattress you can get at various price points
  • where minimum levels are that you should not really spend under
  • where the best bang-for-your-buck levels are

Could someone contribute something like this?

$200-$300: If you’re broke these are the best options:

  • simple foam option 1
  • simple foam option 2

$400-$600: Reasonable mattresses on a budget

  • Things like dreamfoam with good support foam + a small (2-3") comfort/latex layer

$700-$1000: Best bang for the buck

  • Mattresses like Brooklyn Bedding, etc that have a good support base + 4" of quality latex

$1000+ higher end stuff

This site is an amazing resource, but the extreme text heavy posts in tiny fonts makes it difficult to take everything in.

This article may be helpful as a very general guideline (it’s one of the links in step 2 of the tutorial post)

I or some of the more knowledgeable members of the site can certainly help you to narrow down your options, help you focus on better quality/value choices that are available to you either locally or online, help you identify any lower quality materials or weak links in a mattress you may be considering, act as a fact check, answer many of the specific questions you may have along the way that don’t involve what you will “feel” on a mattress, and help with “how” to choose but only you can decide which specific mattress, manufacturer, or combination of materials is “best for you” regardless of the name of the manufacturer on the label or whether anyone else has the same criteria or circumstances or would make the same choice.

You can make the webpage bigger by pressing “control +” one or more times but of course it will still be primarily text so it can still take some time to read the information here … although I believe that the time it takes to read all the basic information will be worth it.
