I am just about to take delivery on a Nature’s Embrace latex mattress from Majestic Futon in Vancouver. I wanted a platform that would save space with drawers underneath so I found something that looked good at Home Depot. I put the bed together today and while it’s plenty strong and rigid it looks like the middle part won’t get decent ventilation. I’ve attached a a picture of a bed with virtually identical construction.
There are 2 inner “gables” that serve both to mount the drawer guides and they also give extremely strong support the middle section of slats. The problem is that, while the two end compartments for the drawers are open to air via cutouts along the bottom head and base boards, the central drawer compartment is enclosed by the “gables/braces”. Is lack of circulation in this central area going to be a problem?

With the slats in the bedframe support system IMO you should be fine in terms of ventilation.

That’s what I thought when I looked at this picture but I couldn’t tell (until I actually assembled it) that the central drawer section is essentially shut off by the dividers (that go from the ground right up to the slats). Did you see what I meant about that or is it still OK?

It’s so hard to make sure all the bases are covered right out of the gate. As always, I appreciate your input and will let you know how the mattress is working out later in the week.
Ps. I’m glad I didn’t go hog wild and go all out for the much more expensive Savvy Rest (even thought the Vancouver dealer seems very knowledgeable)… I don’t even know whether I’ll be able to sleep on this kind of a bed in the summer when it warms up so this is just a moderate risk.

Your mattress has wool quilting which is a great humidity and temperature regulating material in both colder and warmer temperatures so most people sleep very comfortably on wool in any season.

I’d like to add, about two days ago I moved the side of my mattress about 2.5" away from the wall which was previously only less than an inch away from wall and the side of the mattress was still somewhat touching wall which restricted both air flow and compression/expansion of the mattress when sleeping on it.
Since moving that side of the mattress a bit more off the wall I can definitely feel a difference in air flow and the way the mattress can compress/expand more freely now when laying on it, body smells on the mattress has also improved for the better; it’s not so much that my pillows or even leg can slip through but just enough to allow a bit more air flow.
